You mean there are players out there who are happy when they get sent down? So basically saying watching his sons pro debut he just decided to tell you how unhappy his son is playing for the islanders?

Best thing is he's not really all grown up yet. This kid will only get stronger. Also love the way he uses his reach and handles the puck behind himself on his stick side. He may turn out to be the best pick Garth has ever made excluding the obvious, JT.

Ty sir. It's funny how once the season starts we're all just happy it's underway, we'll get that hate on later when we play the flyers
- Isles_since_6

Ill get the hate on now. Took their foot off the gas and were way to tentative with the puck. Yeah they won but if that was a real team it wouldnt have gone that way. No killer instinct whatsoever. Thats what seperates a great team from an ok one. Thats it.

Stopppppppp they dominated most of the game. When Carolina made it 3-1 they went out and got the fourth goal.. Are their things to fix, sure but winning in the nhl is hard and their are no style points

Whoa Capt....
They weren't perfect but they did what they had to, to win. I saw a smarter overall team play. PK is still a serious weakness but I thought they carried play except for the last few minutes of 2nd period. Scoring was spread around. They responded to the first 2 goals in the 3rd period but lost the period—that's a concern, yes. Staal's late PP goal was filthy. Halak didn't even see it and he placed it just under the post/crossbar. They def had more confidence in the 3rd as Carolina scored twice.

Let's see how they do tomorrow. Can they learn & react? That's a sign of a good team.

I thought they were tentative and tight most of the night. Giving the other team room to make the first move thank god they scored those two on the pp bcs you know and I know if they didnt the out come would've been different. Listen, I like the two points but that team didnt want it for sixty minutes. Have you watched any other games the last few days? Completely different hockey. Carolina has nothing and for a while it was touch and go. If you dont think so thats fine we will agree to disagree but to me that team for a large part of the game was waiting for something to happen instead of making something happen. I expected more if you didnt thats ok. They bring that game on Tuesday they'll get torched.

Yeah they won but if you think they would've won tonight playing any other team in the league you might want to check into that island on your avatar.

With that said happy for the two points. I know ill get the hate parade on me tomorrow and thats fine. Ill accept that but if you think that same passive style is going to work on a real team I got a bridge to sell you. First game I know. I get it. Watched lots of first games this week and that was by far the most uninspiring. Today is a new day.

i don't really have any hate for the isles. i was just a little guy and didn't know what hockey was in 1980 so i don't really have anything against them.

i hate the rangers, devils, pens, and for some reason i don't really like the leafs.

That's not good. We need to change that.

No hate here, I understood what you were referring to and can see your point. I think that's down to having a bunch of new guys and a coach that shouldn't be an NHL coach. I was encouraged by most of what I saw and think they'll be better in a week or two. If they win again tonight then at least it's taking the points they should, and Tuesday will be an interesting test.

Same game as always...thought they turned the corner until they spent the last five minutes of the game backing into their own goalie. Well, at least they beat the Hartford Failures instead of losing to them as usual. Let's see if it gets better as they go along...one thing is for sure...they have way more talent this year...so there's always that.

You realize who you are telling that to, right? I havent exactly been pumping their tires this off season. I said the other day that they arent a playoff contender until they prove they can play with/and hold a late lead. No team in this league should be taken lightly. No lead is safe. We'll see soon enuf but for now, my wolfpack shirt is staying in the drawrer.

Like i said they won and thats what matters its just they cant expect to win consistently playing like that and I know its the first game. Its just an observation. Also, please refer to time of post. That should tell you my judgement was spot on.

Interesting fact about last night's game. Cizikas led all Isles F in ice time with 18:36 which scares me. I get he kills penalties, which gave him +6 mins.. but there is no way he should be on the ice for so long.

I'm okay with it. We were up in the game by a lot and we have a game tomorrow. I have no problem with Cappy saving the first two lines for the second game of a back to back in a blow out.

If this becomes a trend however... With the depth in the top three lines the fourth line should play 7-8 minutes a night.

I would build a team with 2 casey cizikas' and one brock nelson on each forward line and win alot of games. Casey is one of hardest working players this team has seen in years. Not saying he should lead the offense in TOI but I have no problems with that stat for one game. I dont think it's an indicator.
