You can add sorting out the D pairings and letting the kids learn from their mistakes. TVR shows a lot of promise. I was impressed with him. Looked very poised for a kid playing his first game.
- Elbows15

Yeah poised is definitely the word i would use. I was pleased, he looks like he belongs though he's gotta keep it up. Im excited to watch him try to establish a permanent role over these next few weeks.

So - from what I saw - he wasn't sticking up for a teammate, wasn't responding to a hit, wasnt responding to the earlier supposed slash (that seemed to dissipate) - he was responding to "he called me out".

Guess you didn't watch it very closely....he confronted Raymond for taking an extra shot at a mate and then answered the bell when challenged.

And he's still earning an NHL pay check, as he made the Pens this year.

Helluva character player to me.

Really liked the way he reads a play. There was a subtle play late in the game that really caught my eye. His partner was over at the boards and was beat to the puck at the blue line. Instead of over committing, TVR saw a trailer coming and held his position. The Stars had a 2 on 1 and he played it nicely. He was in good position to force the trailer to take a weak shot from outside the dots and I believe he even got his stick on it. He was even aware enough to tell his partner who to take. Nothing fancy. Just a smart play.

That was much earlier - he was responding to being called out.

If you like fighting in the league, fine - if sticking up for a teammate or responding to a heavy hit - I dont, but that's just my opinion.

This was a completely unnecessary fight by started by a skater who apparently can't make it in the league on his playing ability.

Doesn't take character to start a fight because of words thrown at him - takes a goon. EDIT to add - if the clip is representative of the rest of the game, he seemed to be looking for a fight the whole game.

I know you don't like 'staged fights' and no doubt that's what Sill and Bodie took part in...that's fair. But as long as hockey remains a physical game, physical players will always have a place in it.

No question - and I like physical players - the (legal) hard hits, battling for the puck, clearing the crease, battling for position - I just don't think that 75% of the fights are necessary, or desire able.

Hey Eli, If you could only see 2 IceHog games this year who would you pick as their opponents ?

Chicago and Grand Rapids. Those are my favorite teams to heckle.

I agree. Hate the staged fight. Love physical play and guys dropping them in the heat of battle. The notion that players will change the way they played to make it into the NHL is naive.

Not many rookie college boy Dmen make that play and it isn't something that is taught easily, its intuitive. Smarts and efficiency in your D zone earn confidence and more playing time from coaches.

Small sample on TVR so far but I like what I see - alot.

Heck, Rick. Not many guys with over 200 games of NHL experience make that play.

And I agree. I like what I have seen from him.

Wait. Leddy isn't on the top PP unit for the Isle? Guess Cappy is holding him back, too.
- Elbows15

Yeah, and Thomas Hickey got more ice time than Leddy did. Leddy got about the amount of ice time he'd get under Q. Didn't see Leddy in a single good highlight, for or against.
