Peter Laviolette NEVER should have been fired! Never!

Since Bryzgalov was bought out, I've seen Bryzgalov on top 10 lists from fans of Flyers they wished never played for this team. Do you know how many games Laviolette Coached since we moved on from Bryz? Three...total! I understand that maybe there was maybe a bit of a refusal to adjust his system but his system brought us to a Cup Final, with an even lesser goaltender three seasons prior. I can't help but believe that Lavy deserved more time. I have nothing against Berube but with a team like this, that features some of the best skilled players at their position in the league but also some gaping holes, I think I'd like a guy with much more experience.

One thing that's forsure is Berube doesn't believe in yelling. He's openly said this. Stevens was known as soft too. You cannot beat the passion Peter Laviolette had. How red his face would get. Punching a player on the top of the helmet. He was awesome!

So by that logic, because I've watched a lot of shows on The Science channel for a long enough time and have a basic understanding of uranium, I should be able to tell the difference between a stable nuclear reaction and an unstable one?

Seems legit.

- Roytastic

This kind of stuff cracks me up. If you've spent 20 years actually observing nuclear reactions, yea, you might be able to tell the difference. As if something like that is remotely similar to watching a play and determining what happened in a sporting event.

Most of us get that there's a happy medium in this thing -- as always, we're fans. We want perfection from these guys, at all times. And yeah, sometimes that means we're demanding.

I thought Mason should've had it, but I, and most of us, know when to defer to someone who's actually doing it who's saying it might not be that simple.

At the end of the day, I might not want to agree with the assessment, but I know enough not to argue it too strenuously. Because at the end of the day, me thinking I would hit a slider that Ryan Howard can't, or that I could stop Evgeni Malkin from coming out of the corner when Ryan Parent can't, is ludicrous.

These guys will fail, even when we don't want them to fail. Because the other guys get paid too.

- AllInForFlyers

Yea, you might not be able to hit a slider. But you know that Ryan Howard has a problem hitting an outside breaking ball, and he's never adjusted to it, or figured it out. But maybe you don't know that because, well you've never actually done it.

And where your comment goes further off point is, nobody is commenting that they would've made the save on the Zubrus goal. Only that Mason should've made the save.

The last comment you made, is absolutely true. But that shouldn't stop anyone from commenting that they did fail.

If Laviolette could have adjusted his system to the players he had, maybe he'd still be the coach. Don't miss him a bit. Let's not ignore his piss poor handling of the goalies led to Snider demanding Holmgren sign Bryzgalov, let's not ignore that.

If he was hamstrung by Bryz, he has nobody to blame but himself.

- Jsaquella

Agreed. While Mason has played well for the Flyers his mishandling of Bob was the impetus behind the Bryzaster (who still hasn't found a permanent home on a team after his release by the Flyers 2 years later).

It seems so long ago when everyone wanted to ignore all those warnings by his Phoenix teammates as sour grapes. They had the last laugh on that one.

Also, while a fair amount of blame can be laid at Lavi's feet for not changing his system to suit his players, some of Holmgren's moves hamstrung him. The Luke Schenn trade for a 3rd pairing defensive defenseman when a good young puck moving defenseman was needed was nothing short of horrendous. It may have been the best trade available at the time but it was the wrong trade then and in hindsight is especially egregious.
