No, if we were the Sixers, we'd be losing by 6-7 goals every game.

It's looking a bit like the Carter/Richards draft, but with two legit franchise players at the top.

So pick third, and in 2020 trade said player for a third pairing dman?

Why? Giants season tickets in my family since the days of Yale Bowl. I've been going to games since 1980, who else could I root for?
- PLindbergh31

it's always odd to me when fans are not 4 for 4 guys (assuming they bother rooting for a team in more than 1 sport), especially if they root for teams of rival cities like in your case. i get that season ticket thing - so why not be a rangers, islanders, or devils fan? why the flyers? i have no idea how you became a flyers fan.

I'm a 2-for-4. I'm a Steelers fan (organization that cares about winning and doesn't need cheerleaders/mascots/gimmicks to win) and I just don't give a damm about the National Slam Dunk Association.

Should have known not to try humor when you were discussing the whole 'Wregget for 2 1sts' thing.

Really? Boyle? Guy is barley a top 4 anymore. When Girardi or McDonagh go down come back to me.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Boyle led the sharks in TOI last season when the sharks finished 5th in GA. How is he barely top 4 anymore?

Hunwick is our 7th defenseman.

how many top 2 legitimate NHL defenceman do they have in your estimation???
- landros 2

At most 1, in Coburn. But he is borderline.

Not counting Timonen because he may never play again.

lol....

i'm not exactly in the most humorous of moods, given the current state of the flyers and that i'm in the middle of packing hell.

One lineup change I'd make for tomorrows game is Jones in and Raffl out. IMO, Raffl has had 2 very poor games in a row.

I skimmed thru the game when I got home last, thankfully I didnt have any nightmares. As I've said for a long time, folks can rip Coburn all they want but he plays a vital role on this team. If he is out for more than a few weeks, the Flyers will be in the draft lottery.

- BiggE

Raffl has had 2 really bad games so I wouldn't be opposed to that at all. make the guys earn the ice.

Coburn could compliment a #1, but I don't think he's quite a top-2 player when he's the anchor.

Yes, the lack of a top pairing hurts. It's possible to build a good team without one, like the Devils in 2011-12. Their commitment and actual ability to play team defense was a big part of their success. The Flyers don't that kind of roster though. At least not at the moment.
- NickTheKid87

The Flyers defense is just as good if not better then the Devils iced in 11/12. And that's far more about execution and discipline then it is about talent on the roster.

Long story. I'm not an NBA fan at all. I rooted for Jordan, because I found it hilarious that he crushed the hopes and dreams of Knicks fans that surround me.
Love baseball, don't really have a favorite team though. I just enjoy watching games.

that's a little more understandable given that philly/chicago aren't really arch rivals in any sport.

for me, it's much more about the fans than the teams themselves. i hate new york/new jersey fans with every fiber of my being. i could never root for any team in that market in any sport ever. it's not physically possible. because i want to murder all of their fans.

So, my long-time (5 years) neighbor had to drop his season tix this year, so I had a new guy sitting next to me. Nice enough, chatty. So, about halfway through the third, he goes on a rant about how horrible Coburn is, how many terrible plays he makes, how he constantly turns the puck over, etc. Went on to talk about how he's basically a bad version of Matt Carle.

Is this really how the bulk of the fanbase is?
