I just saw the replay, Giroux was the closest man to Elias, and he really did nothing to get to him. Just glided and watched. Luke Schenn had his man. Don't know where Del Zotto was.

Luke Schenn was -5 for the game, but really I don't think he coverage on any of the goals was that bad. But when you're on the ice for 5 goals against, that's not good.

- MJL

giroux had a very uneven game. being a -5 is hard to do. i thought schenn was not good in this game, but the -5 makes it seem worse than he was.

Never seen one guy do it to good teams like Elias has done it to the Flyers

Yeah, guys like Mario Lemieux have killed the Islanders, and Crosby's done some damage to some good, bad and average Flyers teams

But Elias has killed us for, what, 16 years now? Against some of the best Flyers teams in the modern era

Can't effing wait for that bastard to retire

he has, and i hate his guts. but that goal, anybody should score there. the problem is he should not have been alone to begin with. that might be the worst goal the flyers allow all season. if i'm mason, i am not happy.

i think dallas is sitting on quite a team in the not too distant future.
- stayinthefnnet

The blueline is still quite suspect. Hopefully some of the young players step up in the near future, otherwise it's going to be the team's achilles heel.

he was half turned, kind of facing the wall, and yes, kept his stick in doing nothing. and the top line shouldn't have allowed the oddman rush, and schenn should have deflected the shot, and ....

it's a save you want and need. it's not a slam dunk save from that spot on a 2 on 1 with bad d positioning, especially where zubrus put the puck.

- hammarby31

I have no problem putting some blame on Schenn there for not having a stronger stick. But that should've been a routine save. It wasn't a clean two on one, as there was no option to pass as Schenn took that away, and I think Voracek hustled on the back check

what actually happened to coburn? did it occur in the first game?
- stayinthefnnet

Flyeritis. Only occurs in the Flyers top defenseman. Timonen's blood clot was what really doomed him.

Top teams just don't have breakdowns like that. Have to see a better replay, but at the very least, Giroux's effort there was poor.

It does. Actually the forwards with the big minus numbers were worse in terms of turnovers and (on a few plays) gaps. Del Zotto was the weaker half of the third pair -- neither were very good -- but Schenn was pretty bad as the game moved along. Wasn't a real good night for Streit or Grossmann. I thought MacDonald was good and Schultz was fine on this night.

The -5 makes him seem worse than he was, but let's face it, four of the six defensemen the Flyers dressed had really bad nights. The team defense ranging between OK and atrocious didn't help matters and Mason wasn't as sharp as we've all seen him play in the last couple years.

They might not be a very good team, I don't think they are more than a playoff bubble team, but they're not as bad as they looked at times tonight.

Woof -- Mason Raymond scores off an unscreened slapper on the rush for the Flames, and Dallas Eakins looks like he wants to punch somebody

I just worry about this defense when they're forced to play against better offenses. They gave up 5 goals to what will likely be a bad offense.

Yeah, I just saw that. She was great on SNL, especially when she did Hilary Clinton with Phil Hartman as Bill.

They simply need to combine the solid team defense from game one, with the offense from game two. And then they'd be a good team. Too jekyll and hyde so far

No way the Devils should score 5 goals on you. But the Devils were fortunate with deflections also.

They had a number of deflections that didn't go in as well. The number of Grade A scoring chances was way too high for a talented offense, let alone, the Devils.

it's very disappointing. i saw the whole thing unfold before it happened. how that happens defies any and all logic. similar to coburn jumping into the corner fray last night and leaving the seam open for another cross ice slam dunk. not good.

Hard not to worry -- I agree that they could play better, but at the same time, no team loses its No. 1 pair and doesn't feel it

MacDonald didn't play badly tonight, and Schultz was more mobile than I thought

The rest of it was just...I don't even know. I don't even know how you wind up -5 and you can legitimately say that it wasn't all on you, but that's what Luke Schenn could say and because he can, you have to be worried
