Well, the only place he's going to be able to do that, is here. So is sending him down really all that benefical to his development? I would say no. I don't think sending him down is detrimental either. Honestly, I have no issue with their decision about keeping him or sending him back either way.

I won't lose any sleep either way.

I agree, they all think their team is a lock to make the playoffs now

maybe their pick is 6-10 instead of 2-6 now?

- Herzeleid

I was creeping around in Islanders boards and most of them think they are a playoff team. I was surprised.

All depends on if he looks out of place. If he is good enough to play in a top 9 role and he's not getting knocked around then keep him, if he isn't send him back

1 yr away from getting pummled every game will do him some good. Specially since he will know what he needs to work on. If he ends up rehabing an injury . he isn't making any ground on his development.

Agreed, I would love it if he comes out looking good and sticks around, but I don't see it happening

I think it's just getting used to being hit by grown men and not junior players.

Based on what we saw in preseason, I would say he didn't look out of place. No he didn't tear it up out there, but he wasn't a liability at all either. My only reservation for saying right now based off of that alone he should stay, is that a lot of the preseason rosters consisted of players that aren't going to be on NHL squads. I want to see what he can do against full NHL lineups for a few games before I decide what way I want them to go with him.

Sending him back to Jr doesn't guarantee he doesn't end up injured either though.

Think about it, Bennett is in the boat he's in because of a shoulder injury that nagged him all last year. Galchenyuk missed almost an entire Jr year because he tore his ACL right at the beginning of the season.

Based off of previous discussions, I am slightly concerned that there won't be anyone on the ice to back up or defend Reinhart. Playing in a 3rd line or 2a/2b role, means he will likely be up against checking lines... I am not sure how that will go. I guess it's the true test to see how he responds to being up against the full-time NHLers.

Right, but it doesn't mean you keep a player that doesn't belong here just because.

There is an entire team that wants to win here, they could care less about an 18 year old getting accustomed to the NHL. If he isn't helping the team he's getting sent back

He didn't look anything like a top 6 NHL player either.

If the options are him playing here with McCormick and Kaleta, or him leading his junior team, I'm choosing the latter

He's playing between Hodgson and Gionta: two guys that can skate, and one guy that can teach him how to be a S̶a̶b̶r̶e̶ pro. At least they're doing it the right way when he's up here.

I think his line mates are great, but I would rather Stewart be on the right as some added backbone to the line. I think it would serve him better. A scoring winger with some grit to prevent guys from taking cheap shots without repercussion.

I just got a notification from my TSN app that Sam Bennett will be out 4-6 months after shoulder surgery, but I can't find it online to link it.

Which is good for now. I hope he just plain gets better and stays here. I would rather watch him all year long. I just don't really wanna here about whether he is a bust or not for a year or two

I would like us to lose most games by a, say, 5-4 score. And have let's say 3 3-game win streaks, preferably involving back to backs against the Leafs.

This happens and I'll be a happy man.

There are 6 games I absolutely want to win, and they are all against the Isles. Sorry new york.
