What exactly was trollish about anything he said?
- buffalofan19

Apparently you just have to show up in another teams thread to be a troll...

I think this is sort of unnecessary. He's not being nasty and carrying on a conversation with several other posters. Don't hate just because he's not a Sabres fan.
- HonkFortheGoose

Hey I understand it. both capt and I have had it out with the trolls in dan’s blog and it’s been nasty at times. However neither of us came into this thread with the intention of carrying that further. Just genuinely excited for the start of the season.

A lot of people are picking Columbus to finish as a top 3 in the division, and I look at their roster, where they finished last year and question whether or not they can even repeat that.
I would not be surprised one bit to see Columbus finishing second worst in the division ahead of only Carolina. I don’t see how they have improved their roster from last season and last year they finished 7th because they had the tiebreaker against Detroit.

I think the reason people rate them so highly is because they played Pittsburgh well during the playoffs..however we did the same thing the previous season and did about the same in the offseason last year to improve our roster and saw how poorly that worked out for us.

I don’t see Columbus as a playoff team.

- Isles_since_6

With Dubinsky and Johansen they are pretty talented. Plus if Murray starts to come into his own they could be dangerous.

They also have a Vezina winner on the squad

dubinsky is out 6 weeks, and murray is still injured as well. Both are good players, I'm not discounting them, but they had them last season as well when they finished tied with detroit for 8th. Not saying they're not a decent team, but starting the season with the injuries they have and with johansen missing camp after his first good season in the league, I'm not sure they can even maintain where they were last season. I think of all the teams in the metro they have the biggest chance to slide.

I'm not going to hold other people's transgressions against you, and I would hope you'd do the same.

I'm good with talking hockey with anyone that's a hockey fan. As long as you're not calling names or making fun of the city, I'm good. Our opinions on the teams don't need to match in order to still have a civil conversation.

It's a long season, so they may start out slow and then pick up. Think about it this way, if Dubinsky is out 6 weeks, he may be more fresh toward the end of the season when some other guys start to slow down due to the grind.

These are the reasons the games are played and the Stanley Cup isn't awarded to the team that looks best on paper.

Big fan of the youth coming through there and i like what they've got on defence, im giving them the benefit of the doubt that they'll keep it up. I won't rule out that it could go the other way though as it has happened before.

Understanding that there are troll wars here and elsewhere, one would have to say something trollish to start one. That hasn't happened here.

That's the difference between you and I. You thought they were a bubble team prior I didn't.

The fact that Cory Conacher is playing on your top line for now is worrisome since you expected your kids to step up and fill in those roles.

Halak is the player that stands to benefit the most from the last two moves done by Garth. It should help him out. There are still holes that need to be filled I think for me to say the Islanders are a playoff team.

- Stripes77

See thats when having an understanding of management helps in understanding things a little bit. Both nelson and most would say lee are ready for the first line. Nelson we wanted to keep at centerand lee was sent down due to him having a two way contract. Our kids look awesome. Theres no worry there. Conacher had an awesome camp. Looked great on that line. I have no issuewith him there for a look and lee developing slowly in the minors. We will agree to disagree.

Please go away. You coming in here with your opinion . Thinking it is more valid than anyones in here is trolling. Somehow you seem to resent Sabre fans. I apologize as a whole for Sabre Nation for the odd person representing themselves as Sabre fans that have trolled the Islander threads. Most posters in here are very smart folks . We really do not need you coming in here and disputing that . Enough of our own fans will do that .
Congrats on the deal just announced on new ownership . Let's just hope your current owner does not back out on that deal

I think they will have a good finish if they start slow.

They will be adding Murray, Dubinsky, Jenner and Horton into the lineup throughout the year. They have stable goaltending and a decent (not great) blue line.

I disagree. However, the trollish comment came from a Sabres fan instead of the other way around.

Not that at all that particular poster has made a point of it in other blogs . This is not the first . And his main reason was he did not like the Sabre fans being arses in their threads.

That's what I mean. You have said in the past that with Nelson and Lee and Tavares healthy you are a playoff team. I disagreed but understood what you were saying. Now without Nelson you are still a playoff team in your eyes?

Understanding management helps understand moves (just like I understand why Girgorenko was sent to Rochester). But understanding the moves doesn't make your roster better.

Plus a good camp or not Concaher is now on his 4th team in 3 years and is playing on your top line. It doesn't add up IMO to being a playoff team.

Definitely a valid point and I can’t say I’m going to be right, I just look at their roster and struggle to see a reason for improvement, but that’s just my opinion. If I was always right I’d be making a ton betting on these things lol.

It’s going to be an interesting season. I’m just stoked for this to get started as last year we had horrid goaltending and our defense frequently featured a combination or all of: carkner, martinek and ness. None of those three are NHL caliber defensemen…shouldn’t have been on the roster at all. It was a miracle we were even in position to blow all those third period leads.

This season could be a long and painful one for fans of various teams. Having been over the moon when the Isles drafted JT, I seriously hope that if it does become a long year for you guys that you do get that cornerstone pick that immediately becomes the face of your franchise and moves the rebuild forward in a big way. It would just pain me if it was our pick you used.

Right now i have columbus just ahead of NYI for that thrid spot in the metro but really you could make the case for either team there.

Those bottom 5 predictions are based on emotions, im guessing if we didn't own that 1st most fans wouldn't make those assumptions.

- Sabresfan-365

Im having a hard time understanding the love for columbus?

I've always been a JT fan. Kinda wished we'd figured out a way to get him at the draft. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that his Uncle is a beloved sports icon here.
