This.

The moves the Islanders made makes them a bubble team for the playoffs. But it is a long season, anything can happen.

It all depends on the Sabres record when it comes to having a top 2 pick this year.

- Stripes77

That goes the same for any other team. I also think they were a bubble team before now they're a playoff team. Of course all of this is on paper.

Anyone know what channel the game will be on for DirecTV? I don't see 638-1 in my guide.

That's the difference between you and I. You thought they were a bubble team prior I didn't.

The fact that Cory Conacher is playing on your top line for now is worrisome since you expected your kids to step up and fill in those roles.

Halak is the player that stands to benefit the most from the last two moves done by Garth. It should help him out. There are still holes that need to be filled I think for me to say the Islanders are a playoff team.

I'll be interested to see what happens. I predict they'll be in a playoff spot but it's a long season, injuries always play a part. Our coaching staff is actually my biggest concern at the moment.

For the record, I hope you guys do improve quicker than projected, I have no hate for the Sabres, this summer I was irritated by several of your fans trolling our boards hard, but there's some of you I've enjoyed talking hockey with and I know from experience how painfully long a season is when your favorite team is out of it by November. I hope you improve just not at our expense. I can understand the desire to see us fail, but I do question the objectivity of some predicting we finish bottom 5 in the league with our best roster in close to 20+ years.

I think you guys are going to be unfortunately for you more competitive than you think but not enough to make it. A lot of it will hinge on your goaltending.
- Cptmjl

Not entirely sold on the skaters either. Still plenty of players who are playing in positions above their skill level.

I think Neuvirth and Enroth will be fine, nothing special but nothing particularly disastrous either.

Right now i have columbus just ahead of NYI for that thrid spot in the metro but really you could make the case for either team there.

Those bottom 5 predictions are based on emotions, im guessing if we didn't own that 1st most fans wouldn't make those assumptions.

I think counting a team out (especially one you cheer for) is just wrong. I mean, this is the NHL, anyone can beat a team on a given night. I'm all for getting a top pick, but I don't want to settle for it... If it happens that way, then yeah, it really isn't a big deal and it will be a good thing for the draft. I don't think anyone on this blog is going to cheer when we lose games is all I'm saying. I'm sick of hearing the words "tank," "McDavid," and "Eichel."..... and don't get me started on Garf's made up atrocity of "McEichel"

Please go away. You coming in here with your opinion . Thinking it is more valid than anyones in here is trolling. Somehow you seem to resent Sabre fans. I apologize as a whole for Sabre Nation for the odd person representing themselves as Sabre fans that have trolled the Islander threads. Most posters in here are very smart folks . We really do not need you coming in here and disputing that . Enough of our own fans will do that .
Congrats on the deal just announced on new ownership . Let's just hope your current owner does not back out on that deal

He has been trolling Sabre threads as some sort of revenge for supposed Sabre fans that have gone in Islanders threads . Spouting his special type of knowledge . Discounting that what Sabre fan might feel is somehow foolish. I apologize again for any mislead Sabre fans frequenting Islander threads . Give us their names and we will have them Flogged publicly in front of The FN Center

I think this is sort of unnecessary. He's not being nasty and carrying on a conversation with several other posters. Don't hate just because he's not a Sabres fan.

A lot of people are picking Columbus to finish as a top 3 in the division, and I look at their roster, where they finished last year and question whether or not they can even repeat that.
I would not be surprised one bit to see Columbus finishing second worst in the division ahead of only Carolina. I don’t see how they have improved their roster from last season and last year they finished 7th because they had the tiebreaker against Detroit.

I think the reason people rate them so highly is because they played Pittsburgh well during the playoffs..however we did the same thing the previous season and did about the same in the offseason last year to improve our roster and saw how poorly that worked out for us.

I don’t see Columbus as a playoff team.
