I've been to both casinos and Canada. Just regular people, tourists etc. Just entertainment. Now you haven't been to any. So you can't defend your comments. I've been to Vegas and the hookers were annoying. Seen nothing like that around here. Also, as to your claims of money laundering, the NYS gaming commission is right there. So you're wrong on that point to. Times have changed.

Because you don't see it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. How many murders have you witnessed in Buffalo?

I'm a casino supporter, and not much bothers me more than the excuses against them is crime because I feel that can be handled well with the increased revenue/taxes created by these places. However, even as big a supporter I am I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen, and prostitution is likely the first thing moving in in some way (not street walkers or anything, but more call-girl type casino arm candy).

Um. Been to a few Casinos. You didn't see any of it must mean it doesn't exist. NYS Gaming commission probably receives hundreds of thousands of dollars under the table, if not MILLIONS. But you're right, everything is legit and clean and proper. And I could defend my comments further but it seems you probably wouldn't listen anyway, since, you know, Casinos are family fun and entertainment and clean money because NYS Gaming commission oversees things. Yep, government and corporations aren't corrupt.

Just because you can't see it doesn't mean its not there. Indian casinos or not, they definitely promote prostitution and crime, drugs maybe not so much anymore because those thing are everywhere but that being said, after looking up the Buffalo Creek Casino, its relatively small and something like the Allegheny casino might not be what I'm talking about anyway but you mean to tell me that something like the Seneca-Niagara Casino i.e. a giant corporate looking phallus smack in the middle of an already poverty-stricken town (see: Niagara Falls, NY) isn't going to promote prostitution? And to think money isn't being laundered is naive. Where there are hotels, there are hookers, and where there are casinos there is money. I'm not talking 1930s gangster bullocks, I'm talking "modern" crime. Human-trafficking, prostitution, dirty money, etc...

Like I said, I highly doubt Buffalo Creek Casino is full of hookers and dirty money since its a smaller operation but NF, Canada, Atlantic City, NJ, etc. All still have smaller scale crime/prostitution. Its way more common than most people believe, but not on the scale of Las Vegas, obviously.

I was also pointing out that "projects" aren't really any worse than casinos. People on projects are usually oppressed and forced into poverty and unfortunately, with poverty, comes crime and etc. Not always. But being poor is a forced condition.

WHOA. That's a very debatable statement.

Just so were clear though I am not a pro-Casino guy. They suck money out of the community in so many ways.

No, its not. I'm not going to jump into a debate about race/racism and the like but off the top of my head, Indian Reservations come to mind. A forced condition, often riddled in poverty and a systematic oppression of a people based on who they are/what they are. Indian reservation as a synonym for projects here and any other manner of grouping a minority into a structurally oppressive environment.

So all the able bodied adults who I deal with at work who do nothing but act like an bumhole and smoke blunts all day, that's some else's fault? You've also equated poverty with race, but statistics show just as many whites are on welfare as blacks. How were those whites oppressed? Amuse me.

So now you're accusing the Gaming Commission of being corrupt. It's not possible. There are too many checks and balances both ways. Not a penny leaves the place that isn't accounted for. That's an off the wall comment. Way off the wall.

New blog I see, but like I said, I didn't want to make it an argument of race and cited my example as off the top of my head, but I'm not really sure what "able bodied adults who act like bumholes and smoke blunts all day means" other than what its suggesting. Which, in that case, it usually is the oppressive system's fault, so yes that is someone else's fault. Let's be honest, the education system is shot.

For example, I moved back to the area in July and it took me until September to finally find work, even though I planned ahead, sent out dozens of applications, not to mention my resume to every temp agency in the area and just barely found a job after two months+ of searching. A part-time job isn't going to cut it when welfare pays more and I probably had just a little too much pride too follow through with it, although I am on food stamps currently because its nigh impossible to pay rent, bills and feed yourself on 9.00/hr let alone when you have another mouth or three to feed in the form of children, spouse or relations.

As far as whites being oppressed, aside from "white privilege", when you are poor, you're poor and when you're born into poverty, the system is stacked against you. This country doesn't want to give jobs to anyone anymore unless its through humiliation and I've seen several people post on this site, from this fan base mention things such as "rookie hazing" which is humiliating and De-humanizing. Also, if you are a poor white, you usually grow up outside of the inner-city where there are less jobs and more competitive people with less education, longer commute times, less business and more abuse with less extra-curricular activities to escape things such as said abuse, be it sexual, physical or emotional. Alcoholism runs rampant, college education is few and far in between and kids are raised by their television screens. Opportunity is not present anymore in America, let alone a healthy job market. Unions are hard to come by and almost impossible to join and outside of unions, your labor is neither appreciated nor rewarded, in fact, hard work and diligence are often resented qualities in a country that is slowly losing its work ethic over the last 25 years.

First off the education system is not shot. This is a false statement and an insult to educators everywhere. Its also a cop out frequently used by failures and bad parents. Again, people blaming someone else.

Second you talk about poverty like its a disease. That once you have no money you cant ever just get a job. Like you're blacklisted. As if the system wants to hold them down. Are they being held down when they get their gas bill paid for free. When, section 8 covers up to 85% of peoples rent. Are you getting held down when you get food stamps? What about millions on SSI? Disability. Unemployment? I know its not a lot of money, but if you think that's a country working against you need to go to other countries.

Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with you getting those benefits or other people. Its better than money wasted on tanks and million dollar smart bombs. But that doesn't sound like a country holding someone down.

I came from nothing. My parents didn't really have extra money for stuff and I took loans to pay for community college. I didn't have the best homelife so I got a job at Delta sonic and moved out young. I had an apartment, a car, a tv, a phone, a stereo, clothes, food in my belly. It wasn't that hard. My coworkers were from different ages, sexes, races and sexual orientations. Same opportunity for all. I eventually moved on to the Cable company. Same deal, people of all different ages, backgrounds, sexes, sexual orientations, races and ethnicities. I made a little more money, got a little nicer apartment, little nicer car, a few money CD's and clothes. I don't see what was so hard about that. I don't think the whites, blacks, Asians, Hispanics, straight people, gay people, young people or old people I worked with saw what was so hard about it. I also don't remember in my 34 years getting invited to the "whites only" meetings where I got to make choices to "oppress people" and enjoy my "white privilege". I guess I was "privileged" when I paid student loans back. I was privileged paying taxes. I was privileged paying 11.25% on a car loan because my credit was shot.

I will say this though, there is no doubt our politicians have sat aside for 30 plus years watching our jobs cross oceans into what they know are basically slave labor situations and multiplied our scope of poverty and size of our ghetto's. It pisses me the (frank) off to not see more people get fair opportunities. But to say in America you get zero education and zero opportunity is a cop out.

1.) The education system in America is a JOKE. We are stupid, confident people (which is dangerous). Saying that the american Education system is 'shot' is not a false statement and if an "educator" is offended by that statement then they are a part of the problem. Look up where America ranks in education compared to the rest of the world. Were outside the top 20, which is inexcusable for a 1st world country. Sure are number one in confidence, though, as you've helped prove with your last few posts.

2.) Poverty is a disease as much as alcoholism is.

3.) Erm. If our country wasn't holding people down, these programs wouldn't be needed. Simple as that, for the most part. The money stays where the money is and thinking that making 15 to 30,000 a year in this day in age is enough to support yourself and a family is really stubborn.

4.) I never said you get zero education or zero opportunity but you seem to have bought into the American dream and the force fed history of the United States according to the United States without questioning it too much. Can't say I blame you, you could have ended up like me, questioning too much and falling further behind because of it.

Overall, you didn't get the education necessary to continue this discussion because you grew up in and went to school in America, earning a Community College degree which is slightly more of a joke than a University degree, all the while completely misunderstanding the term "white privilege", amoung other things. Personally, were it not for me being well informed by a particular individual and others associated with that individual and their circle, I'd still be saying things along the lines of what you are. Your post above is evidence of a 'shot' education system and I'm really not trying to insult you by saying that, I came from the same system and am only a few years younger than you, having accumulated 50+ credits in the SUNY education system (only after finding out 6 years removed from High School that I was entitled to free money from the FAFSA program, something I conveniently wasn't informed of in High School, go figure).

I'm not sure what you majored in, but read up on capitalism, because it literally is a system designed to keep people perpetually in debt. I'm glad you found work and paid your debts and earned your place but you are a victim as much as those blunt smoking bumholes and not much better off, if at all. I'm lucky enough to have gone through some things in the past several years that have placed me in situations I'd have otherwise never been a part of, helping me to see things from other peoples' perspective and to have had an extremely educated person in my life who for the past few years that has helped me not only become a better person, but better understand my position in society and make sense of the struggles I have endured, however severe or not.

I'll close by saying that it is in fact your "white privilege" that has allowed you to succeed as much as you have, to get to the point you are at, having had (in your words) grown up so 'poor'. Just think, if you had grown up in those Perry Projects that people want to dump a 500 Million dollar NFL stadium on how different your life would have been, not to mention how different it had been if you'd have grown up a minority. Your struggle would be twice what it was and your yield half as much. White privilege is simply a white persons condition in a white man's society, and trust me, our society is a joke and we are living in a modern Dark Age, where people think they know without actually reading and argue based off of pride and not information. All information that the American education system fails to provide.
