These look really good. Only thing I'd say is that Streit nets at least 10 goals with increased PP time
- mcefalu

Some of these are optimistic like Del Zotto, Jones, Couturier and Akeson and they'll most likely have less offense than this. However, this is what I'm hoping for but not expecting.

I feel like Simmer will flirt w/ 40 goals.
- Tomahawk

That's a lot to ask of him. Only 8 players in the NHL scored 35+ last year. If he gets 30-32 goals and 62-67 points, he's had a great season.

Finally the season is here. Hopefully the off season emphasis on conditioning pays off hugely. Flyers have as tough a schedule as there is coming out of the gate and if they are in better shape than their opponents, it could be a very positive factor.

Getting off to a good start will help build confidence and hopefully get them rolling towards the winter months.

- Jsaquella

Improved conditioning can lead to better and stronger skating as a team, and is one way that a team can improve it's 5 on 5 play, regardless of personell moves that were made.

We're still talking about your violation -> termination scenario, right?
- Tomahawk

No, about, after his contract drops to pennies, trading him to a team, having him retire, and then the Flyers hiring him for an equal/higher salary in an off-ice capacity.

Couturier+Read > Schenn+VL should account for an ES boost.

The top-unit looked even deadlier than last season, too... I think he can juice a handful of more goals there.

Think he could make it past 35 easily, if he stays healthy.

I could see that. I could also see Umberger in the low-30s, Akeson not cracking double digits (because of demotion), Raffl and Couturier scoring less, a major injury or two and other things. I was debating doing point totals based on 82 games regardless.

How did he manage to score 31 goals for the Rangers in 2000-01?

Oh... in that case, the NHL could just nix the trade, nipping that plan in the bud. Like they did w/ the rumored Vinny trade/CBO/re-sign shenanigans.

Apparently Simon is still pretty miffed at Homer.

He needs to take a step back and realize that it is a business. And no player is guaranteed anything until they have a contract in hand and signed.

So, cause I'm bored, my top 10 Flyers predictions for the 14-15 season.

1. Sean Couturier has a major breakout year finishing with a line of 80gp 22g 37a 59pts a 50%+ on faceoffs and he gets his first Selke trophy nomination.

2. B. Schenn flourishes on the top line and, even though he doesn't get time on the 1st pp unit, he finishes with 25+ goals and 55+ points.

3. Mark Streit puts up huge numbers on the PP and finishes with 50+ points.

4. Playing on the top pp unit gets VLC going and the big guy scores 28 goals, 15 on the pp.

5. MDZ is traded at the deadline and replaced in the lineup by Ghost.

6. Laughton comes up around the all star break and replaces Akeson in the lineup. Bellemare moves to wing. Akeson then replaces Rinaldo in the lineup during the playoffs.

7. The Flyers D is meh, but the forwards, goaltending and special teams are good enough to get them into the playoffs.

8. Raffl doesn't increase his offense much, but he becomes a huge part of the pk.

9. Luke Schenn has a very good year and going into the playoffs, the D combos at even strength are:
Coburn-Schenn
AMac-Streit
Grossman-Ghost

10. And the line combos going into the playoffs, based on ice time, are:
Schenn-G-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Simmonds
Umberger-Laughton-Raffl
Bellemare-VLC-Akeson

Now drop the damn puck already!!
