If Mason plays well and their offence performs they can definitely make up for the D problems. Have to wait and see what happens.
- ehabs9

Not sold on that. AMAC was a large reason for our problems in our own end. I know a lot of people have a hard time believing that but our defense immediately improved with his departure. The numbers don't lie. Having him a a first pairing is more detrimental than most people think. With Kimmo out that sounds like what's going to happen.

I suppose I should have worded it better. You're right I don't see them balancing out the back end, but they should be able to stop the bleeding if they get what they can from Mason and the forwards.

I agree with the Devils at #7. However that will be #7 in the conference and NOT the very weak Metro division! We WILL be in the playoffs this year! BOOK IT!

I think it's safe to predict that PHI will be second worse in the division just ahead of Carolina. Can anyone honestly say that Phi got better in any way?

NYI, with the additions, should finally put a really consistent season together and be anywhere from 1-3. CLB will have a slow start with their injuries, now even Dubi is out, and I don't think they'll recover from the slow start to make it.

NYR, they could be really good or they could again have a slow start. Still plenty of depth but younger guys will have to step up. They should still finish anywhere from 1-3 and make the playoffs.

NJD, they'll be in the conversation on the sheer fact that Marty is gone and Schnider will get the bulk of the work load.

PITS, who knows how they'll react to the coaching change and all of the shuffling on D. They should make the playoffs but I think you're crazy just giving them the number 1.

#2 the Philadelphia Flyers

If you take away the first month of last year the flyers are a top three team in the NHL. After the horrible start they had the team really picked up the pace and battled the Rangers very hard in a first round series that saw the Rangers only one goal better. The Flyers need Steve Mason and Claude Giroux to continue their pace from last year and if they do the added depth Hextall has added should make this team better than it's been for several seasons. That is of course if they stay healthy. The Flyers defense will struggle, but offensively we should see more depth and scoring from more lines.

If you take away every game the islanders lost last season, they would have been undefeated for the first time in NHL history. After the horrible start they had the team really picked up the pace and battled the Rangers very hard in a first round series that saw the Rangers only one goal better. As much as I would love for the flyers to finish dead last and get a lottery pick in this years draft...they wont and will finish in a playoff position. Their forward position and finally goaltending rank in the top five of the league. Sure d is a concern but I dont see the current 6 dmen finishing the season with the young ones in the A.

I have almost no clue what to say.

Your one and two teams can easily be 5 and 6 in this division.

Pretty sure we started like 0-8 but I guess we don't qualify for the bad start or we never get mentioned when other teams complain about how many games they played on the road to start the season...
