Chicago was never in danger of missing the playoffs...toronto was battling until the last month. - rangerdanger94
still pretty irrelevant. I heard it's a team game - might be wrong....just a rumor I heard. |

You're right...the entire maple leafs hockey club choked and failed at the end of the season, including phil kessel. We on the same page now? |

That is a lot more accurate....but just so I feel I haven't failed you I'm going to go over this math thing one more time for you - this poop will blow your mind son!
lets say in January Phil only got 7 points like he did in the last 14 games of the season....but then in March/April he got the 21 points he had in January originally.....would the Leafs have made the playoffs? (I'm going to give you a hint....no.).

How is Kessel on anyone's top 5?
The guy has had one plus season in his career.
I know +/- isn't the end all, be all, stat, but come on. |

It could've considering you won some games in january by 2 or more goals while you lost some in march/april by 1 goal. If you take all those goals from january after you guys were upby a goal an move them into march/april you still win games in january and at least get OT points in march/april. |
|
|
|
More realistic top 5, based on who you would want on your team to win the cup:
1. Perry
2. Benn
3. Kane
4. Hossa
5. Steen |

yes if you got to fix it exactly putting every point exactly where you wanted they might have made it.....might.
I'm sure every coach would choose to have a player who scores 1 point per game over 82 games instead of some points here and some points there....fact is very few (if any) players achieve that....most - like Kane and Kessel do it in spurts. It is irrelevant if it is in January or March - they all go into the same pot. They help win games.....which are worth 2 points in January the same as a win in March is worth 2 points. |

But are 2 points in march worth much to a team that clinches in February? Are 2 points in March worth more to a team that is fighting for an 8 seed until the last week? |

well this is excellent stuff....now if the Leafs just play Phil in March/April (keep him fresh all year) then they will make the playoffs right? You should be a coach. |

Before you nerds roast me, I would just like to come clean about something: I forget about Corey Perry when I made my list. Not sure why or how, but I did. Obviously he is a top 3 winger in the NHL. My bad. - James_Tanner

Figured it had to be one of the Leaf-hating fanbases, likely from the East since he didn't have Hall ahead of Steen/Hossa either. |

I'd still take Ovie over Benn, but yeah those guys would be my top 6. Can't believe Kane wasn't top 5 on all lists. |

I had trouble with Kane and Kessel and because I'm a leaf fan I picked Kessel good chance this time next year I have Benn over both of them though. How did that guy get picked in the 5th round? |
