Wow stay classy Isles nation.
Whatever, great win by the boys last night, was a very intense game for Game 1 wen it's out of conference too. The Boyle news hurts but does give a kid a chance to step up. Play whoever on the 3rd pair & move Klein up. |

The Rangers are better with Boyle on the shelf than what the Isles can throw out there.
That's the only negative taken out of last night. Despite relying on the top line, Hank and the top four defensive unit way too much, the team got it done against a very good, and very dirty, Blues team.
Great start by Kreider and Nash; dear lord Kreider is going to be scary this season. |

The Boyle news hurts but better now than later in the season when the games, and the points, are so important. Rangers got it done, without their top center and their right second defensemen for the entire third period, on the road against a tough opponent.
Despite the Boyle news I am a happy Rangers fan right now. I do think Malone should get in the games this weekend; especially if Hayes can't go yet. |

Yep, the good news is that it is a hand injury so Boyle can still skate and stay in shape a bit. Like I was saying last night he should still be back for the last 60 games or so of the season. This shouldn't be the end of the world for the Rangers. No injury is good but I have faith the Rangers will be fine over the next month. |

He is slated to miss a month to six weeks. That is likely a good 15 games Boyle will not be in the lineup. That's not the best news in the world but they will be able to handle it. The only thing that makes this difficult is that the Rangers are already without a top forward and now a top defenseman.
Depth will be tested but I think they will be able to get by during the next dozen games or so. |

I tell you though, kind of wish the Rangers still had Rafael Diaz. He would be a good short term fix. |

Yep, Diaz would look good on the third unit with Moore for the interim.
I think Hunwick will be alright regardless. John Moore needs to stop messing around though. The kid has too much ability to be a liability out there. Expect the top two defensive units to get the lion's share of the ice time.
I trust Klein, think he could be a top six defender on a lot of teams. Can you imagine if they still had Del Zotto and this injury took place? The defense would be in complete shambles.
Losing Boyle is difficult but ultimately I think the Rangers will tread water until both he and Stepan come back. |

Yea I agree. The one big area will Boyle will be missed is the powerplay. Going to be hard for that unit to build chemistry now. I am more then fine with Klein filling in the top 4 pair 5 on 5. |

I think "Quickie" will sit for at least a game, he's lucky his arm isn't broken, that welt was seriously bad |

Klein is one of the best if not the best 3rd pairing defenseman in the league. He could play top 4 on most teams. |

Looks like McDonagh and Moore are going to get a lot of reps on the power play. Stempniak on the point looks like it can work. Apparently he has done that over his career to a modicum of success.
Count me out of the people that will go negative, despite the injury issues, because I really believe in this team and the coaching staff. They will collectively patch the holes up until the team gets fully healthy.
They have Hank, first and foremost, but they also have a great group of leaders here, talented leaders. There will likely be some issues to ponder but ultimately I think the team will get through them without losing too much ground to the other top teams in the East. |

On a good note, stempniak and duclair looked good. Duclair especially displayed some patty kane-like hands a couple times and is an excellent passer. He might be the best skater on the rangers now too and that says a lot. |

Yea it sucked for Duclair last night cause the Rangers took a lot of penalties in the 2nd period so he didn't see the ice much. But I was fine with his game. |

Columbus plays it rough too so I think having a little extra muscle in the lineup will do this team good. Malone looked sharp in preseason; I say get him in the lineup somehow.
If Hayes is ready to go though I think he should get a shot. Maybe slide Miller over to the wing spot. He looked pretty bad on the dots last night and really didn't do much otherwise. |

Duclair has star written all over him. No panic in his game, at all. |

Yea Miller was 0 for 8 at the dot last night. If it wasn't for Dom Moore, the Rangers would have gotten completely blown away at the dot. |

You see, all teams have to do is let Kreider come in on his breakaways without slashing him and their goalies won't get hurt. It's a very simple concept.
Since Kreider returned from his injury in the playoffs last year, how many breakaways has he had? My god |

Last night's goal looked like he was shot out of a cannon. His ability to break away, from the pack, is Bure-like. Kreider has dominant power forward written all over him. |

I never realized how good of a passer Kreider is, both in traffic and on long stretch passes. Really is the complete package. |

I am rooting for Miller, because I do see a good player in him, but last night was not a good display on his behalf. He needs to makes his presence felt somehow and he really didn't do that at all against the Blues.
But, St. Louis is a good team and they can make a lot of young players look invisible and a non factor. Don't want to give up on him so easily though but he needs to show more. |

Realistically, if they redrafted the 2009 first round right now, Kreider would probably go 4th, after Tavares, Hedman, and Duchene. My biased Ranger fan side of me says he can be better than ANY OF THEM. |
