Streit/G-NN was a very good pair for the 2nd half of last season.

AMAC/Fat Schenn was OK too.

No replacement for Kimmo on this yrs squad.

Might be sometime before they have somebody that's even a level below Kimmo.

well if coburn/amac turns into a poopshow, i'd like to see them try to pair their best defensive guy with their best offensive guy

Anything might be worth a shot. But really, there isn't one pairing that the Flyers can put together that is ideal as a top pairing. Coburn is really the only player who could be labeled a top pair defenseman. And that is even questionable.

I'd like to see that as well. Right now the only pair that doesn't give me agita is Streit-Grossmann or Streit-Coburn

If the flyers maintain gap control, skate as team and commit to team D their defense pairings will be fine

Also I think they'll have to play some boring hockey, not necessarily trap but don't try to force that long stretch pass and not being over aggressive offensively by having 3-4 guys deep in the offensive zone.

Thx... Like herb brooks said "we won't be the most skilled team, but we'll be the most conditioned"... I think this conditioning craze coupled with some smart hockey like I mentioned, will pay huge dividends. Also having a 4th line that can play more than 10 minutes a night is huge.

5 man unit all over the ice, and a 200 foot game. It's how every top team in the League plays. And to me, it's not boring. That 2nd period against the Rags in game 7 in the spring was what I find boring.
Center lock forecheck also really isn't boring. Defenseman pinching intelligently. Good consistent positioning by the forwards, creates offense.

No it's not boring and yes that game was but I think they need to worry less about making highlight reel goals and worry bout keeping the biscuit out of their own net first, let the offense happen on its own if you will, they are limited in certain spots not just the blueline, but playing a team game covers those warts drastically. They still have talent where it counts, center, goal and the blueline isn't ECHL caliber either.

He might. It would be a huge help if Luke Schenn and Del Zotto can be a consistent pair and not a tire fire.

The forwards will need to play much better in puck support and gap control, something they haven't shown they can do on a regular basis.

I'm not saying they can't be a playoff team. But they'll need a lot to go right to make the playoffs. Just like a lot of other teams in the division
