On Monday, Blue Jackets center Brandon Dubinsky left practice after only 10 minutes. He was described as "banged up, nicked up" by coach Todd Richards.

This morning, Richards acknowledged it's more serious. This afternoon, the club placed Dubinsky on injured reserve and proclaimed him "out indefinitely" because of a lower-body injury.

Dubinsky will not play on Thursday in the season opener against the Buffalo Sabres, nor will defenseman Ryan Murray (knee), Richards said.

Kinda how I see it. They had to lose Bylsma, he got too comfortable with some of the players. Bringing in a new guy means there are no favorites, so he'll come in with a fair outlook.

Bylsma won a Cup with the Penguins in 2009, and he's shown the door.

Holmgren trades JVR for a third pairing dman and becomes President. Funny world.

Rinaldo is a bum, looks good, is a bum
Hartnell trade was/wasn't good
ACDC > Led Zepplin
We suck
We don't suck
We're kinda okay
Giroux touched a dude's butt
We need to trade for Evander Kane
Rush Ghost/Morin/Sanheim

You know, same old.

And in the 5 years since they won that Cup, the mighty dyanastic Penguins have won a grand total of zero playoff games past the 2nd round.

How many games past the second round have the Flyers won since 2010?

This may come as a surprise, but expectations of a team with a generational talent tend to be much higher.

not really. more like painful. i wouldnt say its been a total colossal epic failure to the point where they should pack it up and go home, but its not exactly like they should currently sit atop a throne and look out at all they have accomplished.

i wont argue the merits of how/why/whatever they have been given them, but the lack of playoff success recently is pretty disgraceful considering the resources at their disposal.

bylsma had to go. hes not utterly worthless, but all things considered, the severance had to occur. cup season or not.

Very few teams can accomplish what Detroit has since 97.. having said that, I'd take a cup win in 2009 and be very content over how long it's been for the Flyers. I do think we're on a much better path now trying to win by drafting well.

I'm not saying Bylsma is Scotty Bowman, but the guy was a coach for a team that won a Stanley Cup. That usually buys you a pretty substantial grace period.

I'd agree with you on all accounts. However, this Pittsburgh team was constructed to be a dynasty for years. The fact that they've failed to even win an ECF game in 5 years is unacceptable.

5 years is a good grace period as coaches go.

He lost the plot and lost control of his team back in 2012. He should have been shown the door after that playoff fiasco.

I wasn't aware that the Predators were viewed as a Cup dynasty. Thought they were an overachieving budget team.

Must be that huge market Pittsburgh plays in that gives them an advantage over the rest of the NHL.
