And peters twice?

I read the first little bit. But the thing is we all do not know the whole story. I didn't see any practices and only watched two games. Did grigorenko look better during that time, to me yes. What was told to grigs as he was sent down. Maybe they told him great job go work on this one aspect of your game and we will see you back in a few week.

- SabresFaninIndiana

When Ted was asked about it yesterday, he said that while Grigorenko made the decision very difficult, they still felt he could use some time in Rochester. They liked what they saw, but he still has things that they want him to work on.

This is why they are the coaches and we are the fans. These decisions aren't based just off of the games that we see, but also the practices, locker room presence and things like that. It all plays into the decisions they make.

We tend to equate "greatly improved" with "good enough", and that's often not the case in reality.

haha. Ditto.

You plan on hitting up a lot of Solar Bears games this season? I did season tickets again. I look forward to the season kicking off.

I'll fit a few up. I was supposed to officiate some of the games but I don't think it will happen this season.

Not to mention that they have the opportunity to let him grow a bit more, so why not use it? I'd like to see him continue his level of enthusiasm in Rochester and show it's not just all a sham to get an NHL spot. I want to see him go to Rochester and be a consistent player night in and night out. If he can do it there, then I think he's earned his shot for a full time spot here.

On one hand, I can't blame him for being upset. He basically asked "what more could I have done?" My answer: "Score more. That's what we drafted you to do". He put up 2 points in the preseason. I didn't watch every preseason game, but the games I did see, I didn't see enough of a difference between Grigorenko and Reinhart, or anyone else for that matter to be upset by this move.

Based on the little snippet of Nolan's interview that I heard, no.

are they making it seem like they are going to keep reinhart up for the haul or did they leave that door pretty much wide open.. because if he gets sent down who comes back up? who are they better of the players that got sent down?

Nolan still has an aversion to playing younger players. I'm not convinced that leaving Reinhart here, even for the 9 game tryout, was his call.

The part of the interview that I heard didn't cover that. It was just his reply to why they sent Grigorenko down.

No offense but then you were being biased. Grigorenko was much better.

As far as scoring more, Grigorenko like Reinhart didn't play in every pre-season game

On September 21, against Washington, Reinhart skated 16:53 TOI with 3 shots, 1 hit, 1 block, and he was 60% on draws.

On 9/23 against Carolina. he was even in his 15:08 TOI with 1 shot, 1 hit, and he was 44% on draws.

On 9/26 against Toronto. he was an even player in 16:46 TOI with 1 shots, and he was 44% on draws.

On 10/1 against Washington, he scored his first NHL goal and was +2 in 21:39 TOI with 2 shots, 1 block. He was 25% on draws.

On 10/3 against Carolina he was -2 in 15:45 TOI. He took zero shots, had one blocked shot and struggled on his draws (18%).

This is not a training camp anyone should point to as meriting a roster spot.

I heard most of the interview. It sounds like Risto made the team. He was on the fence with Zads. I'm guessing Zads stays till Pysyk comes back. He also claims to be expertise handling Russian players. Grigo needs to prove consistency. Doesn't sound like he'll be in Rochester very long. He said maybe a couple of weeks or a month of evaluating him.

edit: Reinhart needs to be quicker in his decisions. He sidestepped a few hits but it may be a different story in a regular season game.

Me thinks Grigo will be evaluated in the games he plays in the Chacha. if he continues his play like he showed he will be up and Samson will be sent back. I don't see Sam making that much of an impact to keep him up past the 9 games. Also it will be difficult to make room for him unless an injury or too happens.

I would think by the time the 9 game tryout expires Larson will be ready to join. Unless his injury is long term, haven't heard much on him.
