I hope Armia makes it but perhaps he will make the third line like we had in, was it 2006-07? when the Sabres had three scoring lines.

We had 4. If guys like Roy can play on the 3rd-4th line wing why can't Ennis when our team is deep?

People have this notion that 3rd liners absolutely have to be shut down players and 4th liners absolutely have to be grinders. Not always the case.

I agree, Ruff played 4 lines, 3 that I remember that had offensive talent. Vanek and Roy played the 3rd line and Vanek scored 43 goals that year. I think Max may have played the 3rd line as well. Plenty of room for Armia, Ennis and others with talent.

Yup, and our "shutdown" players in Hecht and Drury played in the top 6.

As long as Ennis produces (given his contract now) there should be a spot for him here. Now if he's part of a deal to land a great player.....I'm all for it. However someone like him doesn't need to be replaced just because

Agreed, Trouba and Scheifele could be game changers for them.

Also, Reinhart still has his junior eligibility, Grigorenko finally doesn't - Grigs is ahead of him in line so Reinhart would have to do something to jump him - I was mostly happy with how he performed but he didn't jump ahead, IMO.

This is about asset management, that's it. Get Reinhart his 9 games, let Grigorenko play in Rochester with Armia and dominate against adults, bring him back when it's time to send Reinhart back with a folder of "things to work on".

Nothing about this situation reflects poorly on either player - it's the team operating within the rules established for managing young players, and not wanting to have Grigorenko here in a bottom half role vs getting top-line minutes in the A.
