Like a few others here, I now have access to Canadian Junior game broadcasts. From time to time I'll try and give some scouting reports on Flyer prospects.

Watched Morin and Rimouski vs.Sherbrooke last night. Rimouski won 6-4, Morin was +2 with a (secondary) short handed assist (borne from a short pass from deep in his own zone).

Morin started out kind of shaky, making a few ill advised clearing attempts/inaccurate passes from his own zone but that seemed to clear up as the game went on, as he made some quick and efficient short passes and a couple real nice lead/breakout passes. There were a few times where he used his speed to effectively join the play offensively, making a couple good lateral passes once in the zone and getting off some shots on net fromt he point, including one that got close to being a goal on the rebound. Defensively, Morin made a couple of impressive plays skating back hard and using his long reach and stick to thwart a streaking attackers...but I was bit surprised at Morin's relatively weak board play. He lost a couple of puck battles against smallish players and didn't seem to impose his will physically when I thought he could have ( though, he didn't take any PIMs. which is good).

Overall, it was a decent two-way effort, but I'd like to see him step up a bit physically on the defensive end and see a little bit better decision making on passes from the defensive zone.

Looks like Anthony Duclair is sticking with the Rangers...meanwhile Tyrell Goulbourne will play his 6th WHL season

Looks like Ottawa is keeping Curtis Lazar, too. He's a damned good prospect

Did Bogdan Yakimov make the Oilers? He was picked in the 3rd round after Goulbourne as well. A few better prospects were...

So what is everybody's bold predictions for this upcoming season?
- JonnyHammerstix

Just make playoffs, but loose 1st round as D is worn out and simply not good enough. Mason gets peppered almost nightly

Nope, sent down. Draisaitl and Acton made the team. It was close, though.

Marincin sent down, too... kind of shocking... they went w/ Brad Hunt/Nurse/Klefbom instead.

You are correct...he was a boon to that line, providing some increased possession and good playmaking...seemed to drop off after his injury.

Are you expecting Giroux like levels of offense? Because I think anyone that is woudl be expecting far too much.

I think that Couturier can be a 50-60 point guy, which is adequate for a second line center in today's NHL

- Jsaquella

Especially when that center provides Selke level D and is your #1 penalty killer

I saw Duclair play 3 pre-season games. He looks like he belongs. He earned a job, and the Rags actually went out and made transactions to fit him in.

When will Z2 be ready for NHL duty?
