even if Cout's shot is weak, as long as he can get it to the net Wayne Train can make it rain

I don't think I've ever seen a weaker shot that what Paul Coffey brought to the table. If he could have had a little more Shea Weber to his shot, he could have been something instead of just another Danny Syvret.

Yes. Not everything has to be steeped in encyclopedias of fact. Some people have what they call a "gut feeling" and like to trust it from time to time, even when it contradicts with facts and past events. You sometimes seem to act as if this is pure foolishness.

I think it's pure foolishness to make random statements that don't have any basis behind them.

Definitely disagree with this. Couturier's wrist shot is extremely underrated. I don't think he uses it nearly enough and so people think it's not a strength.

EDIT: Here is a decent example - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ktJCuk2StSM

This one is much better, actually

For someone who won't deal in hypotheticals, I find it hard for you to have an opinion on the subject either way.

Couturier has a pedigree from junior hockey as a player capable of producing points.

I don't see any reason why he couldn't produce points in the NHL regardless of his role. His role on the team isn't even conducive to scoring points, and yet, he has almost as many points as Brayden Schenn, whose ice time might as well come with a bow on it.

It's based on results. Which players have gotten better under Murray? How has the team done under Murray? Has the team improved at all since Murray took over?
- PhillySportsGuy

Jason Akeson. Looks like he turned into an NHL player after spending consederable time under Murray. Other players such as Nick Cousins, Tye McGinn, Oliver Lauridsen, Brandon Manning, have made strides under Murray.

What I find ironic is the criticism towards Holmgren that he didn't do a good job drafting in the later rounds, and in building the Phantoms roster. So based on that what kind of results should be expected with the talent level they've had on the Phantoms?

For the #8 overall pick, his role should be to provide supplemental scoring. So far, I have no gripes with his production, and feel like he can offer more.

I agree.....And I do think his ice time is gonna change this year to reflect the fact that they want more out of him.

The Kings 'lost' a number of pretty talented prospects during his watch... Moulson, Frolov, O'Sullivan and Purcell come to mind. They wouldn't bend to his ultra-conservative tactics.
- Tomahawk

I'd be happy to read any evidence that you have that the reason they lost those prospects is because they wouldn't bend to Murray's ultra conservative tactics. And really this post shows me that you're not even aware of the type of coach that Murray is. He's not ultra conservative. He is however demanding. Which a Coach in his position should be. And hopefully he helps to build a culture down there that the young players can learn under, in the same way he did in LA.
And what Organization doesn't miss out on some prospects, and has a perfect record? And the NHL Coach is not the only person of an orginization responsible for prospects not working out. Including the players themselves.

Please provide concrete indisputable evidence that Terry Murray is not conservative. Please post facts and figures to support your claim. Otherwise, it's all just heresay.

Couturier will never be a flashy player. Offensively, he's a big bodied player with a N-S game. He's a guy who can get the puck, use his body to shield checkers, and get a shot off. But I don't think you'll ever see him dangle regularly.
- jmatchett383

Yeah, right now he's the guy holding the puck in the zone while waiting for help to arrive, or working the boards... with the occasional power move to the net. More of a support role on offense. Just not sure he can just keep singing that tune to 60+ points.

I was hoping he'll develop more of a playmaking game... but even if he stays at ~40 points/per, he's still a huge boon to the team and worth every penny of his contract. Love the poop out of that kid.

The AAV is good, but the sticking point was supposedly the cap-hit in the last year of the bridge. Looks like the Jackets conceded that to get something done... they must have lost all their leverage w/ the injuries.
- Tomahawk

The Cap hit and the AAV are one and the same.
