Well again no right and wrong, and it's really just an opinion. I personally can't stand the Beatles and their music. But I would never downplay their immense talent, and their role in music history. There's other musicians that I personally like better then Led Zeppelin. But I wouldn't put them before them in ranking them. Not that I don't like Led Zeppelin.

Yes, no one can deny the influence that The Beatles and Led Zepplin (and The Ramones) had on music. But that doesn't mean their music is any good, just that they were revolutionary.

It can be instilled organizationally, but I don't know if you want it to be as sterile as you described. But who's going to command the buy-in on this team? Who's gonna be the guy who can tell everyone to look themselves in the mirror and ask if they're doing everything they can to help the team? Timonen could, but he's gone. If a player isn't buying in/giving 100%, who's there to sit him down and talk, and have the player know that the guy's not to be argued with?

EGAD!!

My favorites. They've been a constant listen for litrilly as long as I can remember. My dad had me listening to them before I could talk, he said, just because he'd play them all the time! Just played a gig with dad and friends and played I Don't Want to Spoil the Party, Dr. Robert, I Feel Fine, One After 909, I've Got a Feeling, and Dig a Pony (along with other classics from other bands...lots of petty)! The 3 part harmony in Doc Robert is nuts.

No band will ever surpass the Beatles in GiG's rankings. No one will even come close.

EDIT: No, this isn't me berating you for not liking the Beatles. That's just stupid to do, imo. It's just me talking how they're my favorites!

True

If you had bet me in 1979. that Keith Richards and Ozzy Osbourne would both still be alive 35 years later, I'd of taken that action in a second!

- BiggE

haha

I don't think Ozzy's as bad as he's made out to be. He actually seems like a pretty down to Earth guy. I'm sure he had his wild days, but he's not like Garcia, a guy who couldn't go 4 hours awake without snorting coke.

No matter what great music they wrote, the writing of "Yellow Submarine" undoes it all.

Led Zepplin is like Pat's Steaks. When they first came around, everyone was amazed at what they could do because there was nothing like them. Now, there are much better places to eat, but people still go there out of habit or because they wanna try it once. Kinda like heroine.

50% of Zeppelin is amazing
25% of Zeppelin is stereotypical "rock"

It's not one player, it's the group as a whole. And each player starts by walking the walk. An example is the penalty issue. Plagued the team for years. One of the team leaders was Scott Hartnell. Well how can he lead and talk in the room about cutting back on penalties, when he was one of the biggest culprits. Can't create the environment needed like that. I truly believe that was one of the biggest reasons why he was traded.

That's my issue. There needs to be that player who walks the walk and have others follow suit, and have a trickle down. I don't see that player on the team right now.

Now now.

Maybe you should check out Only a Northern Song then. See if that makes the album better for you.

Or Yes It Is. Nothing like a 3 part harmony to change your tune on those 4 goofballs (pun intended)

They had like 10 good songs. And then everyone just acts like the rest is so great because those 10 songs were so good and they refuse to let anyone blemish their heroes.

It's what I call the Pearl Jam effect. They put out 2 records with a bunch of big hits. After they, they've maybe had 2 good songs. But, because they're Pearl Jam, their songs keep getting played and people keep tricking themselves into thinking they like the new stuff.

Edit: Not comparing the 2 bands.

It would probably have to be Giroux, of the current roster. Or Simmonds. It could well be somebody not on the roster right now. But the message still has to be clear from up top.

LA, Chicago, Boston, Detroit...all of these highly successful teams have a hierarchy that built their teams to be complete teams, around a central organizational plan and system. They develop their players, and bring them along in their system. Most of the Flyers core players spent less than 30 games in the AHL, and those who did were usually there because of a lockout.

The organizational philosophy is learned and adopted as part of the player's ultimate hockey development. If you have guys that have been living the organizational philosophy for years, the accountability becomes ingrained

Players such as Coburn, Giroux, and Voracek can do it. If they lead by example, other will follow. Including the whipping boy Rinaldo.
