To Couturier - jmatchett383
I guess u missed yesterday... Apparently the flyers are responsible fpr jay rosehill not being a hart finalist by not giving him more ice time, and their downfall this year which is stopping them from winning a cup is not having an enforcer this year |

Never stated my sources are facts. And never called anyone's sources hearsay. I simply asked for any kind of reasoning of why a poster thought that Murray's "system" was bad for the Flyers young players on the Phantoms. It never came. - MJL
I meant style of play. Meaning he's always been a conservative coach. I would rather players learn how to score while being defensively responsible than just learn that risks shouldn't be taken and it's better to lose 1-0 than 5-4. |

I'm convinced Jamie Moyer made up pitches on the fly, like in a backyard wiffle ball game. - johndewar
This is why I think he would make an excellent pitching coach. You don't pitch until 50 without knowing the science behind pitching. |

For the #8 overall pick, his role should be to provide supplemental scoring. So far, I have no gripes with his production, and feel like he can offer more. - jmatchett383
Couturier produced plenty of ES points last year compared to players in similar roles. He outscored Kesler and Plekanec at 5 on 5, among others.
He's only going to break 50 this season by getting on the top PP unit, and to do that he would need to get past Voracek. Which ain't happening. |

Agreed.
And I didn't write that post with the intent of slagging Moyer. It was definitely meant as a compliment. He just seemed like he knew more than the batter when he was out there....even at the end. |

Looks like Anthony Duclair is sticking with the Rangers...meanwhile Tyrell Goulbourne will play his 6th WHL season
Looks like Ottawa is keeping Curtis Lazar, too. He's a damned good prospect |

Exactly my point. I don't believe that is how Murray coaches. Seems to be a misconception that he is against scoring or something. And that he is going to retard young players offensive ability. And scold them when they come back to the bench because they took a shot on net, and tried to score. He teaches them to play the game the right way, to be responsible as a player, which includes how to play both sides of the puck. And in LA he helped instill a culture that had a big effect on the success of that team, even after he was fired. |

So what is everybody's bold predictions for this upcoming season? - JonnyHammerstix
In no particular order:
I think Vinny and Andy Mac are going to be better than anyone thinks they can be, but still not quite up to their contracts.
I think one of Brandon Alderson or Tyler Leier comes up mid season because of injury and surprises everyone.
I think Kimmo retires in February.
I think Michael Del Zotto washes out here and, like it or not, Ghost is here by February.
The depth at forward will become a problem as I think this team might struggle to score.
I think Steve Mason shows he's legit. Again.
I think this team makes the playoffs (to the surprise of some national writers), but are once again 1st round fodder.
