Clifford and Nolan had 17 fights between them - that's a lot of fights. I don't know what you definition of an enforcer is but one of them had 9 fights, the other one had 8 fights. I agree Simmonds is tough but it is difficult to win with a small team even if it has a lot of tough players. The Rangers have a gritty team but the Kings ground them down. In the 2011 playoffs, you may remember that the Bruins took the middle of the ice away from the Flyers and kept the puck near the boards which the Bruins controlled. The Flyers have so many forwards under 200 lbs which makes it difficult to come out with the puck and it also makes it difficult to be effective in front of the other teams net. Look at the size of the King's forwards, they are absolutely huge. And, they had several guys who got in a lot of fights - Nolan, Clifford, Carcillo. That's the prototype I would follow. I would have kept Rosehill. If he got the playing time Nolan and Clifford got, his goal numbers would be similar. He's probably a better skater than Nolan. I just don't see the down side. If are relying on your 4th line to score a lot of goals, you have much bigger problems than who's skating on your fourth line. You better take a look at the players on your top three lines because they are not producing enough.

Rosehill would be fine as a 13th forward, but not as a regular 82 game player. And I seriously doubt that his goal totals would be similar. Nobody is relying on the 4th line to score a lot of goals.
Enforcer's are players whose main skill, which got them to the NHL, is fighting. Whose main role on the team is to stand up for other players. That is not the case with Clifford, Nolan, or Carcillo. None of them are enforcers.
The Flyers don't have a small team.

Justin Williams won the Conn Smythe. Mike Richards. Are they huge players? How about Marion Gaborik? Big strong mean player there! Trever Lewis and Tyler Toffoli are under 200 lbs.

Bottom line, I do think you have a valid point in that the Flyers could use some more size up front. But it's being negated by thinking that the fix for that is to play Jay Rosehill every game. He's simply not an every game player. He should be no more then a part time 13th forward, at best.

I'm still trying to figure out who the two enforcers on the Kings were

I'm still trying to figure out how the hawks won 2 Stanley Cups - a smallish team with an aversion to fighting.

Hey when the Hawks won their last Stanley Cup, they were 28th in the NHL in fighting majors? How did they ever win?

And last year, those tough guys from LA, with noted "enforcers" Clifford, Nolan and Carcillo were 21st in the NHL in fighting majors.

Of the top ten teams in fighting majors last season, 5 missed the playoffs. Only one team in the top ten in fighting majors made the conference finals, that was Montreal.

Something that pretty much every young adult male does at one time or another. Partying and having a good time, and using some bad judgement.

He's not every young adult male. He's being paid a tremendous amount of money to be the leader and star of this team.

And he finished third in the balloting for the Hart trophy as league MVP, was third in the NHL in scoring an basically carried the team to the playoffs after a rough start.

So, yeah, he's the leader and star of the team, earning his huge salary

The 2013 champs somehow won it all with bollig (played in 5 of 23 playoff games) and carcillo (suited up for 4 playoff games) in the press box.

Whenever someone says the Flyers need more enforcers, size and toughness, I think about the '97 Finals

Not saying he's a bad player. But, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect better behavior from him and I don't think it's unreasonable to question his leadership ability after that incident.

He should have stepped up in the playoffs and asked to play defense and center. Triple shifting. Or was he too busy hanging out in Le Olde City grabbing cops butts?

I'm guessing someone on the 4th line. I'm going to go with PEB with a setup from Art Ross

It was only one incident and it was really a minor thing. 15 years ago and I don't even think it would have been reported. It would have come out in a tell all book.

Players don't like playing for complete hard asses either. And I think it is unreasonable to question his leadership because every interview you see of another Flyer they always say how great of a leader Giroux is. Even after the butt grabbing incident. Maybe I'm out of line here but I value the words of his fellow teammates over any HB poster.
