I just checked hockey reference. The Black Hawks had 9 forwards over 200lbs in 2010 when they won the cup and 9 in 2013 when they won the cup. In 2010, they also had Byfuglien who played defense but also some forward. He is 265 lbs. Gaborik is over 200 lbs. The Flyers have only 4 forwards over 200 lbs. Didn't the Bruins have the most fights or second most fights last year? They are consistently one of the best teams in the league. And, Detroit had 7 fights last year and since they have adopted this no arms policy, they've won nothing.

So if the Flyers just get some of their players to gain weight, and fight more. They'll be consistently one of the better teams?

The difference is that he's not one of your bros. I don't think he's a bad guy or a bad player. I don't want the Flyers to trade him. I still think he's the best player on the team and a top ten forward in the league. And I still think this incident makes him look silly, at the very least. I've lost some respect for him. It has caused me to question his character and I don't think it's a stretch to think that it may effect how his teammates feel about him and lessen his effectiveness as a leader. I know that I would bust his stones over this if I were his teammate.

The very fact that you would bust his stones if you were his teammate, shows how really unimportant the incident was. Because think about it. If it was a serious incident, where he seriously messed up, you wouldn't do that. That it can be made fun of, points to how minor it was.

In a matter of 2 years, defense has shifted from a barren wasteland on the Flyers' organization depth chart to a position of absolute strength. Prospects Shayne Gostisbehere and Samuel Morin - both Paul Holmgren draft picks - were so impressive in training camp that an entire season of Nick Grossmann and Braydon Coburn had to seem like punishment instead of prudent management.

The incident doesn't make me feel less of him or feel like he should be tripped of the captaincy but I suppose you could question his maturity. Your everyday 26 year old with a lot less money would never feel so untouchable over an authority figure. I think he just had a moment of allowing who heis get to his head, tthe same way he doesn't sign autographs.

Ageed. I would trade the Stalls and anyone else of value and reboot personally.

Assuming you keep the young guys (Skinner and younger), that limits it to Semin.

You're a young guy, ever go out partying, had a little too much to drink, and made a fool of yourself, and done something stupid? No need to answer as it's asked rhetorically. But I think a lot of us have been there. Didn't mean we lack character. it means we are just human. And making a lot of money doesn't change that.

He was a drunk 26-year-old who was spending part of his $5M bonus and got completely carried away. I know most guys in their mid-20's would NEVER do anything foolish as they're all fully mature by that point. When I was 26, I was completely mature and never did anything resembling foolish, always thinking 17 steps ahead.

Sure, no argument here but I think there is a certain level of arrogance in any type of drunken scenario. Ther's the muscular tough guy, the kid with money and then there is your average joe. I think it's a safe bet that Giroux has an ego. The "FU Raff" minor incident confirms this.

Any top athelete has an ego. Some ego's are good, some are bad. I see zero sign of Giroux having a bad ego.
