Isles moves make me uncomfortable but remember while Boychuck is good Leddy is over rated. If either goes down they are back to where they were before not to mention if Tavares misses a lot of time. Not a lot of depth on the Isles. I'd be more comfortable losing Giroux than Tavares.

It's the same thing. If the Flyers lost Giroux for half the season, we'd all be shopping for McDavid or Eichel jerseys

It's nice to make clear that eating at Arby's was a necessary evil.

Do we have to go through this?

I would have taken (contract included) Stralman, Boyle and Ehrhoff. Possibly Niskanin but the book is still out on that one.

I guess we will need to agree to disagree. I don't like the amount or the amount of years or the timing of the deal. And yes, the UFA market is a poor place to pick up that D man, so possibly a trade was in order (not sure it was there). The Timonen situation is the X factor of course. And I will not comment further because we have literally (yes I am using that correctly) been discussing this for 3 months.

I...was not looking for an argument.

I'll gladly agree to disagree.

And it's litrilly.

Good 1st period for Morin. Generally solid play. Also made a nice recovery to break up a rush after he was initially caught up ice on blocked shot. Long reach helps.

Funny, just last week Berube was talking about the importance of an enforcer and that he would dress Rosehill when the opposing team dressed an enforcer, which I found a bit asinine, because why let an opposing coach's decision on dressing a goon determine your line up choices?

Good for the Flyers to realize that there's no need for a designated fighter that does nothing to deter opposing players from taking liberties with star players and that team toughness is required.

I was surprised Zepp had to go thru waivers. I forgot he played a few years in the AHL & ECHL before going to Germany.

And the Blackhawks signed Carbomb. 1 year, $550K

And this is a perfect example of why not to overreact to what a Coach says to the media. Actions speak louder then words.

nope.

i think they'll be ready for opening night. don't think they'll win, but they'll be ready.

really excited to see if the 4th line can play a much improved role with the additions of jone and bellemare. so happy rosemont got waived.

not to speak for him, but do you really think jsaq is one who overreacts to anything, especially words from a coach?

Actions of the general manager. Berube isn't the guy making the roster decisions.

Simmonds won't have to fight any more than he did before. If the other team is willing to draft a limited enforcer who can't actually play the game the flyer should jump at the opportunity to exploit the other team being short a man rather than dressing and enforcer of their own.
- Jsaquella

The other team can easily double shift a player and sit the enforcer. Most enforcer's don't play a lot of minutes anyway. And the double shifts can be spread around to a couple of player. So there is no real advantage is one team dresses an enforcer, and another doesn't.

I'm sure the Coach had input. And I think if Berube was adamant about keeping Rosehill, the Flyers would have kept him. I think it was an organizational decision. One I'm not opposed to.

Hextall said they are cap compliant by abut $55K under the cap after putting Pronger on LTIR and carrying 22 players into the season by sending Rosehill to AHL. Said they will have between about $2 to $2.5M after other LTIR moves made.

Brings me back to something Dave Poulin said last year: while Capgeek is always in the right ballpark, there are often small inaccuracies in the publicly available figures.

- bmeltzer

Yes but if you use the calaculator at Capgeek, and LTIR Pronger and White. It comes out to 55K under the cap. And technically Hextall is incorrect. It is impossible to be under the cap while using LTIR.

IMO, that would be a great deal for the Flyers. The only problem is that the Hawks are looking to possibly deal him for Salary cap relief. Grossman doesn't help in that regard.
- Flyers_01

It would make the Flyers defense too soft.
