I saw Read miss his coverage, Coburn broke off his man to cover Read's man, Coburn screened Mason in transition to get to Read's blown coverage. Mason lost the puck....Goal. Amac was in good position the whole time. Coburn had his coverage.

Impossible.

It's always Andrew MacDonald's fault.

That includes ebola and ISIS.

Nirvana, IMO, was one of the most overrated bands of all time. Heck, I'll take the Foo Fighters over em any day. let alone Alice in Chains or Soundgarden.

So, FWIW, I actually went back and read through the posts. MJL is right, he was simply arguing that replacing Grossmann or Schenn with one of the AHL kids would make the defense worse, not better.

It may have evolved from there, but that was his original point.

Communication Breakdown
Whole Lotta Love
Immigrant Song
Four Sticks
Misty Mountain Hop
How Many More Times
Custard Pie
etc...

Most hard rock bands have some softer songs in their catalogue, heck even most metal bands have a couple.

I wouldn't call any of them "hard rock." They're hardER than bland 70's hippie rock, but that's a tallest midget argument.

Who's to say Sbisa was ever going to become anything more than he currently is which isn't terrible compared to his draft class? It's just a guess.

There's zero evidence that the Flyers keeping him on the roster for 39 games affected him in any way positively or negatively. Plenty of first round picks don't pan out. It happens year after year. Some jump to the NHL their first season and some don't.

What you can see is that keeping a kid in juniors for an extended period of time decreases his chances of becoming a top NHL blue liner. Part of that is certainly because he's not good or skilled enough to crack the NHL line up but it's crap to think two years of Junior will make the difference when he gets to the NHL in making him a better prospect.

I have to agree. This is my way of thinking as well. You get better playing against better competition. Its simple logic. It that player cant handle it at the time or eventually or gets discouraged. He was never good enough to begin with or doesnt have the mental makeup.

Huh? That may be true for a player who just isn't very good, but as a general statement, this doesn't make sense to me

It's a myth. Stashing Morin in juniors for a second season is not going to improve his game. It's just delaying his learning curve.

It may be in some cases, but it is not like Morin was dominating in juniors and was playing well above the level of the league before.

I disagree. If a player still has raw attributes that need to be polished, I don't think there is anything wrong with giving a guy like Morin an extra year to work on those particular skills. Is Morin going to improve his skating at the junior level? No because his skating is already more than adequate. But he can certainly work on his offensive game, something that he has a desire to do.

I think a lot of us agree that he should be playing in the AHL right now, but giving him his last year of juniors to work on specific areas of his game where he does not excel is beneficial, IMO

I said that. Of course players who aren't any good are going to stay more than a season in the minors but you won't find more than a handful of players in any draft class who spent two years in the minors and still made an impact in the NHL let alone a kid picked 11th in his draft year. If they're going to make an impact they move up by they're second year.

Look at Sbisa's draft class if you don't believe me. Of the top defensive picks in the first two rounds only three spent two years in junior and did anything. That was 6 yrs ago.

Also, 2 players from that draft class, Karlsson and Carlson, played in non-CHL leagues prior to their draft.

What I guess I'm getting to is... if he ain't on the team this year don't hold your breath for big things. They probably aren't coming.

Right, I was just affirming what you said re: lesser players.

So it sounds like you think Morin should stay with the big club this year then?
