Frans + Grabs + pick = Yandle ....... - Ur Not Me
I think that's too much to pay for Yandle. I'd go Grabs, Donavan and pick. The point of getting Kulemin and Gabroski was too have nhl responsible players up front and to have depth. If we trade both Grabs and Frans then were back at relying on rookies up front. I know everyone wants Lee, strome etc... to be on the roster. I still dont' think they're ready to play regular nhl minutes yet. They don't play a complete game. I don't want them to mortgage the team to get a top 4 defenseman. We just need a solid veteran quality defenseman. Jason Smith type defenseman |

I don't particularly want Yandle, but Grabner, Donovan and a pick would never, ever get that done. |

Yeah I don't know what happened there. I'm sure he'll be fine. We would have heard about it if it was something serious. |

If Bailey is waived and some other team claims him (thankfully) under the new CBA rules, are the isles responsible for retaining a % of his salary for the duration of his contract or just this year??? Not quite sure, but like I stated the other day, bold moves need to happen. |

You don't ever pick up salary if your player is claimed off waivers. |

I just thought that some changes were made with teams paying salaries then waiving them. I know that (Wade Redden) rule came into effect of being in minors w/majority of salary counting towards cap instead of being buried. |

Re-entry Waivers
Re-entry waivers, as explained above, were a product of the prior CBA but are no longer in effect. Any player who was paid over a threshold amount was subject to re-entry waivers when he was called up to the NHL. If that player was claimed, the claiming team would only have to pay half of his salary and the waiving team was on the hook for the other half. Re-entry waivers were a mechanism to keep teams from stashing ringers in the AHL. However, once teams started to send players to the AHL to exempt their salaries from the salary cap, it became an incentive to keep those players there. The result was the end of re-entry waivers and institution of the "Wade Redden Rule" (paragraph 50.5(d)(i)(B)(6)), which states that for purposes of computing a team's average salary for cap compliance, salaries for players on a one-way contract count to the extent that they are higher than the minimum NHL salary plus $375,000. |

sounds like Halak played well last night which gives me some peace. Without our top line and a few defensemen, we were able to take Jersey to a shootout. Granted, still means nothing as it's preseason, but it's encouraging.
Really interested to see what happens this weekend regarding the roster cuts. I'm really hoping we don't follow our patterns and keep the under producing vets and shuttle the youth off to the ahl.

I wonder if we might see some cuts today. You'd think that maybe for the last preseason game they'd put together the lineup they're going to go with and give them at least one game as a unit before opening the season, but maybe that's just unrealistic with the decisions they're going to need to make. |

IF theyre ready it would be wrong on so many levels. Unfortunately with Freddy Flintstone behind the bench I have no confidence in player evaluation. I have no trust in the man who thought Marty Reasoner was going to "bring it" in game one of the pens series. |

i hear both sides of it.
on one hand its exactly what you said...let them all play as a solid unit for 1 game.
on the other hand, the competition is fierce and it may come down to the last preseason game.
they also might not want to play all the top guys in fear of injury. |

Brett Gallant probably recalled to protect JT, although he'll never be on the ice at the same time. |

what's the point of that though? we still have martin and boulton in camp. why bring up gallant again when there's one game left and we have far too many players in camp, with decisions on roster spots that neither colberg or gallant have a shot at?

Maybe with all the injuries they don't want anybody else getting hurt during the last preseason game? Plus I think they have their minds made up about the roster anyway. I don't really see the big deal about these guys dressing. They might dress Boulton, Martin & Gallant tonight Maybe they aren't happy with a couple of the Bruins players from the other night? |
