I think they play on the top line on any team. They may move to the wing or the center that is there moves to the wing but they are first liners on any team IMO - RobFlyers#1
my point wasn't to suggest that they aren't 1st line players, my point was showing prock that just because a team has a player or two who are better than player X, doens't mean player X still isn't a 1st line player.
meaning, just cuz giroux wouldn't play 1st line center over crosby or stamkos, doens't mean he isn't a legit top line center.
the same logic holds true for ryan......just cuz he wouldn't be a top line winger over kessel, kane, ovechkin, etc, doens't mean he isn't a legit top line winger. |

I know. That's true same as Crosby and Malkin in Pittsburgh. |

I know the guys skilled and whatnot but 7.5 for 7 seems kinda a gamble for a guy that has been known to need a top end player to play with - nightmare3020
No. That's the price for his calibre of player. Just look around at free agency. |

the key with prock is to never take anything he says seriously...its more fun that way..im almost positive he does all this just for fun which is fine..its trolling at its finest..
there must be 100 posts from last season with him all but guaranteeing that Ryan was definitely leaving and no chance he resigns..and now that ryan has signed its going to be that the sens have massively overpaid for him...it is what it is |

Good deal for a great player. Screw those guys complaining this is an overpayment. They can say that if he blows up by year 2-3 of the deal, but for now, I see him banking another 3-4 30+ goal seasons if he's healthy. Well worth it in today's NHL cap. Congrats Sens fans. |

How am I backtracking?
I was pretty sure he would jump ship. I made that clear. I believe what I said many times went along these lines. “The only way bobby Ryan will sign with the Sens is if they massively overpay him. Otherwise, why would he. And since Melnyk won’t do that, he’s as good as gone”.
Well, sure, I was wrong, Melnyk was willing to massively overpay your 50 to 60 point winger. - prock
we're so quick to judge every contract as an overpayment. and then a funny thing happens... 2-3 years down the road, it's not that much of an overpayment. look at Phil Kessel's contract. it went from being "OK" to a year ago to being a pretty solid deal. within 2-3 years, it could be an absolute steal, assuming he at some point stops getting fatter every year. |

Feels like every new deal is deemed an overpayment in a sea of hyperbole. I think this is a good deal. You want a bad contract? See Clarkson, David or Orpik, Brooks |

Well, sure, Kessel's already looks like market. Maybe in 5 or 6 years, Ryan's will be too, you're right. |

The way I see Toews vs. Crosby is you assign their offensive and defensive abilities on a 1-10 scale. Toews is a 7/10 off, 10/10 def, Crosby is a 10/10 off, a 7/10 def. Or something close to that for them. Thats my take. |
