Not all, but most. He can easily play on the first line for all teams, but given current rosters of certain teams, he would be more suited for a 1B line winger role.
- ChetManly

By 1B, you really mean he'd be on the second line on those teams.

I agree, he'd be first line on about 75% of the teams in the league.

what exatly does that prove.......guys giroux, tavares, kopitar, etc wouldn't be a top line centers on maybe 4-5 teams in the NHL, guess that means they aren't top line centers......hell, they wouldn't even be in the top six in pitt, so maybe they're bottom six quality players.

- sensarmy_11

Name the 4-5 teams Giroux or Tavares, Kopitar would not play on the top line.

He absolutely would have reached 8 IMO. David Clarkson received 5.25 with one 30 goal fluke season. Ryan has broke 30 goals four times and had 23 last season which I think had a lot to do with overall health and team play. As for money. The money being handed out is crazy. I know contracts are rising and I like Toews and Kane but personally I think anyone who makes more or has a higher cap hit than Crosby is overpaid but that's my opinion.
- RobFlyers#1

I think Toews is better than Crosby. Kane isn't. But what can you do...

I don't know what it proves. If you take issue with it, ask the guy that the posted the erroneous idea in the first place.
- prock

I don't take issue with anything, but it's pretty obvious that you're suggesting that because he wouldn't be on the top line on a few teams that somehow it means he's not a top line winger.

It wasn't my stupid argument. Go discuss the 20 to 25 teams he'd be first line on, with the Sens fan that incorrectly claimed he'd be first line on every team in the league.

Which, by the way, is silly given how much Sens fans try to argue that he was producing offense all on his own, on the second line, in Anaheim.

- prock

you are the one to continue to argue how wrong it is...no one else cares...

its a good signing for ryan and the team...after you spent all of last season telling ever sens fan there was no chance he was resigning you are trying to find what you can to tell sens fan they are wrong.

Pittsburgh. And…. I don’t know. Hell, if Pittsburgh had all three of Malkin, Crosby, and one of them, either Malkin or one of those guys is ending up on the wing. On the first line.

pitt, tampa, chicago, anaheim, and then use eachothers teams as the 5th (ie. doubt tavares or kopitar play on the top line in philly)

Not at all. Just pointing out that what the poster said was inaccurate.

Nothing. Really you honestly think Toews is better than Crosby?

I'm not arguing it. I don't have to, I'm right. The statement was wrong.

I agree, overpaid as he is now, the Sens had to do it. They have to sign whoever they can, because it's hard to find players willing to play in Ottawa.

No it is not. He would not play on the top line on Chicago so it is a bad signing for Ottawa.

I think they play on the top line on any team. They may move to the wing or the center that is there moves to the wing but they are first liners on any team IMO

How am I backtracking?

I was pretty sure he would jump ship. I made that clear. I believe what I said many times went along these lines. “The only way bobby Ryan will sign with the Sens is if they massively overpay him. Otherwise, why would he. And since Melnyk won’t do that, he’s as good as gone”.

Well, sure, I was wrong, Melnyk was willing to massively overpay your 50 to 60 point winger.

Bobby and Erik are some nice pieces to build around. Heres to hoping the Sens and Leafs become legit contenders again and we can bring back the rivalry of the late 90's, early 2000's. (frank) i hated your team always taking us out of the playoffs
