even with the ducks they tried to have him anchor is own line and it failed , at this point in his career thats kinda the tag with him.

I mean in 3 years he could easily develop into someone who can lead a line, lead a team but i havent seen it yet.

I grew up with his cousins so I always have had a special affection for the kid and wanted to see him in Philly one day but I honestly can't see paying him 7.25. I cringed at Giroux making 8. I dunno, maybe its just the going rate but seems like too much to me.

Sens management never confirmed it either.

At the end of the day, this deal is a bit of an overpayment, but he would have got more on the open market.

The Sens won't be a cap team any time soon, so as fans we shouldn't care what certain players are making. Sens fans should just be happy that another star isn't leaving.

7.25 in today's market is a steal for Bobby Ryan. 7.25 puts him T-17th in terms of salaries league wide.

It's safe to assume salaries are going to start to skyrocket (see Toews, Kane, Subban deals), meaning that in 2-3 years, that deal is going to look really good.

I know the guys skilled and whatnot but 7.5 for 7 seems kinda a gamble for a guy that has been known to need a top end player to play with
