With Dillan signed, now Johansen has no one to play/practice with.

He'll have to play boards all by himself.

i guess ryan's agent must have used rick nash as a comparable. talented player, vastly overrated, extremely overpaid.

No. Ottawa has his contract in their hands

Rick Nash and Bobby Ryan are comparable in some ways. July 2009 Rick Nash is signed at 8 years with the Blue Jackets worth $62.4 million. Ryan is a little older when his contract kicks in but it is a year shorter. The big difference is the cap hit. The cap hit makes Ryan rank 20th in the league; 14th among forwards. It won't be long until that ranking drops.

Ryan ranks 13th in total goals the last 6 seasons. Only Tavares, Iginla, Neal, Carter are a better cap hit.

So, overpaid, maybe a little at the moment. Extremely, very unlikely. Especially after the year

If Ryan goes back to getting 35 goals a year, the deal is good. However, for what he has done the last 2 years (24 goal/55 point full season pace) It's too much.

Never was a big fan of the original trade for Ryan. Don't like teams giving up first round picks. I also wonder if Bobby Ryan is a good enough technical skater to play into mid thirties at a high level.

But, overall it is a very good signing for Ottawa. Teams have to protect their asset base and build on it. Ottawa is a very big, very young, fast team. They are going to be very hard to play against.

IMO, that trade is going to go down as a steal for the Sens.

Silverberg is a 2nd liner at best.. quality player.. can PK and is versatile, but still.

Noeson, is already injury riddled and chances are, he doesn't even make the NHL. If he does, he'll be bottom 6.

Ritchie (who they go with the fist pick) could go either way. He's still too young to really know. That said, 2014 was the weakest draft since 1996. Who knows if anyone outside the top couple picks ever becomes an impact NHLER.

As they say, whoever gets the best player usually wins the deal. Ottawa got a first line winger and gave up a 2nd liner, non-NHLER, and a guy who's odds are slim to be a top line player. The holes that were left by the guys Ottawa gave up were filled easily.

People are stupid... You can't compare contracts signed this year with contracts signed 2-3 years ago... it's not the same NHL contract structure. In 5 years time 3rd lines will be getting 5+ a year (oh wait, Clarkson already is....)

Point being, who gives a sh!t... Kid is a great player, locked him up for 7 years, paid him a lot of coin, keeps fans happy, he will score goals... no biggy.

I agree, Subban over priced as well....But I could throw out names of players in Boston over priced as well, it happens

Good point. Every team has some players that are overpaid. But then again...I'd rather overpay for a player of Ryan's likes than a player like David Clarkson... at least you can expect production from Ryan. Sens would be doomed without him.

Balances out in most cases ,Pk at 9 mil per is not ideal but having patches come in at 4.5 .Same goes for us 7.25 for ryan 3.5 for turris

Anaheim improved as a team when they got rid of him. Funny they also got worse when he joined the team.
