Favorite part is bolded.
Im also starting to think its more and more likely Downie is in the top 6. - YouMeAndDupuis9
I don't know what else you do with him. He just isn't any good anymore.
If a F gets injured, call him back up. I don't want him on the ice, but given his contract he might be the best call-up option available in case of injury. If we get lucky he'd be claimed off of re-entry waivers leaving us with 1/2 of his contract on the books for the rest of the season; I can live with that should it happen. |

you know, I'm surprised we don't see more of it, but much like the NFL "draft value chart" I think NHL teams will have a sort of "Draft Pick value Chart"
Like the Pens want to dump a 600k salary, What sort of pick would you have to give a team to eat that for you... 2nd round, 3rd round, 4th round?
If I were an owner/GM, it would definitely be a tool in my box for a rebuild
I might even ice an entire team of castoffs for a season or 2, just to load up on the draft picks. Teams are forced to spend 50 million anyways.....

A few teams (Calgary, Toronto) have tried offering to take on bad contracts for draft picks. Hasn't happened yet.
Still, I wonder if the NHL would allow a seriously one-sided trade like that were a bad contract is basically sold for a draft pick. |

I'm fairly certain they do have a chart. I can't recall but it might have been referenced in that behind the scenes video look-in on the Neal trade. |

2 rebound goals from the bottom six. The Comeau goal was precisely the kind of goal Pittsburgh has been allowing and not replicating. It was very nice to see that one go in. Sundqvist has looked every bit the key depth player the Penguins have been missing since seemingly forever.
Kunitz has looked like he's ready for a third line role. Actually, he passed the puck very well but looked a touch unbalanced throughout the game.
Someone call the President and have him name Craig Adams the United States Ambassador to Brunei. Issue resolved.

Beautiful rebound by Sundqvist. Loved it as a hockey fan, despised it as a Wings' fan. |

Love the guy but I agree. Kunitz unfortunately looks similar to how he did at the the end of last season....looks unbalanced, puck whiffing...
if Kunitz is not a sure fire, top line winger..then wow, how bad do we need help there? |

I don't know if this has been covered lately, but what's going on with Malkin?
I can't find much on it, and remember hearing yesterday that he's not even working out anymore. Any update on what's wrong with him? Was he working out at all this summer? |

I have heard that he has been seen stretching with rubber bands and doing what is assumed to be some sort of upper body rehab. Other than that small bit of information I have heard they have been really tight lipped about whatever is going on. |

I hope he is alright. Despite my vendetta with the Penguins, I love watching Malkin (Crosby, Erhoff, Letang, Fleury, definitely NOT Sutter) and it makes me worried that he's hurting a lot worse than is predicted. |

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion too quick. Kunitz is a good player, but I don't think anyone would consider him a 1st line W without Crosby. And last night was Sid's first game back.
Kunitz had 68pts last year w/ 22pts coming on the PP. W/ Hornquvist possibly playing the same role on the PP, he may slide down to the 2nd PP which would considerably lower his total Pts. Still, if he can replicate ~45 pts on even strength, I'll be happy.
Lastly, I don't really think the Penguins need 1st line W's w/ Crosby and Malkin; they need solid 2nd line W's. They have two in Hornquvist and Kunitz; just need to find another two at the deadline or via UFA next offseason. |

Didnt he previously have a shoulder injury earlier in his career? Thats the first thing I thought of when you mentioned the rubber bands and stretching.
Quick search and it looks like fall of 2009(Leclair) and another in spring of 2013(JVR). Not sure if they were both to the same shoulder though. |

Johnny wrath has been talking the demise of Kunitz since the end of last season. Apparently 35 g and 79 points ( carear year) is a
Sign of decline.... ??? So let's get this straight kunitz looks mediocre in a pre season game and he s ready for a third line role??? Wow talk about reading your own
Opinions into things ... If this is not" prophecy historisized" then I don't know what is!!! |
