Orton may or may not be the better option right now. However, if he is, it's only short-term, very short term. Long term, the answer needs either needs to be Manuel, or they need to draft/trade for (unlikely) another quarterback. Sbroads is right. If Orton plays well, and they give him a multi-year extension, then this team set itself back. I have no problem with them going with a different quarterback in the mean time, because they simply will not get to the playoffs with Manuel at the helm right now. However, they need to figure out a long term solution at the position, because it's definitely not Orton.

Wow these players need to stop comparing Orton with Manuel. It's only gonna cause problems if Orton goes down with an injury. They should all just shut up and move on. It's pretty obvious Manuel was struggling I don't get the point of kicking the guy while he's down. Watkins lost some respect in my book.

Find the real quotes and then judge. From what 89 posted, the couple of "quotes" knocking Manuel were likely cherry picked out of context. The sentence that was quoted is much more gentle and respectful.

Yea I agree they were sort of out of context

Watkins is the "star" IMO over EJ and they gave up alot to get him. They needed to make the change now to save any kind of "face" at all. EJ is not the QB of the future so they need to move on from that, you can give him 15 more games and the same crap will happen.

I agree that EJ likely won't be a star, but he also has shown he could use the time on the sideline and in practice holding the clipboard and taking in the game more than having to run it.
