Not planning a parade for him . Just glad the monkey is off the kids back . He was feeling it . Regardless of number 2 pick not going back to Junior in 20 years as stated by the all wise hockey god . I would like to see the kid go back to junior to get bigger and stronger.

The more i think about it, i like that decision more as well. We already have 3 solid centers right now and basically theres no hurting for him going back to juniors to refine a little bit. That way he will be back next year bigger and better than before (or the year after) when we have even more of a force with the new picks/trades

The emergence of Grigorenko more than anything makes that move possible.

if he is not getting top 6 minutes, he needs to go to the AHL

he is the wild card with the sabres for the 2014-15 season

i dont see why he cant center line 2 and Zemgus gets the 3rd and mccormick or mitchell gets the 4th? i think the model fits quite well actually. But yes we shouldnt keep him here if hes going to play a checking role

Against Washington's B squad.

No Backstrom. No Ovie.

- HonkFortheGoose

I don't think Washington will be very good this year.

Spot on Homie. Ennis 1C, Grigo 2C, Girgy 3C, Who Cares 4C ... Yes I would love to find a good 4C to take advantage of other teams 4th lines.
Grigo needs to play with high energy and responsible players to keep his drive going to gain consistency in his game...Gionta and Stewert?

I liked the lines last night, I'd be happy with gionta on the top line and putting stewart on the second.

It's preseason.

Remember the 2010-2011 season (before the Pegula sale), they trounced Philadelphia something like 9-2 in their last preseason game, and then the rest of the 2011 calendar year was a trainwreck. When you play mixed squads with zero gameplan, you end up getting a lot of uncharacteristic results.

Also, I'm not convinced that Reinhart won't get his 9 game tryout this year. He hasn't looked spectacular, but he hasn't looked like a tire fire either. The comparisons to Grigorenko prior to this season are way off.

Hopefully McCabe ends up filling the role they brought Gorges in to fill currently.

They were saying during the broadcast last night that Gorges is constantly talking out on the ice. They said it's something that's good for Myers because Gorges is making sure Myers knows what's going on and everything. Guess we'll have to wait and see, but they looked good paired together last night.

You can definitely see why they brought him here (or, if you believe Murray on July 1st, jumped at the trade the second they found out Buffalo made its way onto "the list). Last night was one of those nights where everything seemed to go right.

He seems to be a bit of a calming influence. So is Gionta. I think that will be very good for this team in the long run. I'm sure both are going to have bad games throughout the course of the season. But every player does.

They're definitely going to fill role of teaching these kids "how to be a pro" very well. I'm just not convinced that will translate to many wins this year. It will definitely be more than last year, but let's face it, we're talking about a bar that's only six inches off the ground.

I forget - do the 9 games need to happen at the start of the season, or can we be choosy about when he comes up and goes down?

Once you send them down, you can't bring them back until after their Jr season is finished.

Any thoughts on Tyson Strachan he'd played gallons of minutes and I couldn't quite decide what to think of him. Had a great pass to Marcus but also was caught in his own end a lot for extended periods of time. Seems very similar to our very own Sabrebuzz favorite Mr. Mike Weber

I agree about reinhart, he needs some time. I don't know washingtons team that well so I have no idea how many of them are nhl starters. Regardless holtby looked terrible last night.

They had a lot of their starters out there, just not their best ones (Green, Ovechkin, Backstrom, etc.).

Hard to believe those three players are what makes that team competitive, I mean ovi is ovi he makes any team better.

I wouldn't underestimate what Backstrom brings to that team as well.

He CAN make 15 goals in 15 seconds in an empty net, after all...
