I agree. Lee especially is one I want up as we're not a particularly big team up front. Still a week to go. Still time for a trade to make some room. I won't put money on a trade though.
- Isles_since_6

I wouldn't put money on it either, however...this is the time when other teams that are up against the cap are going to have their hands forced. As opening night closes in they're going to get a little more desperate. Doesn't mean something will happen and/or they won't sort things out internally...but if it's going to happen then the near-future is going to be the window.

If there's a trade im hoping its sooner rather than later so said player can adjust to Jack's (non) system.

Both kids are as far as you can get from the weasel Nino was.

Wait. You're blaming Nino?? Serious?
What does anyone about Nino????
According to Garth he was a highly talented player with matching character?
Also, what (top10) 1st rounders can you name who start their careers in the nhl on the 4th line?

Only in this organization does a move like that happen.

I actually do blame Nino and his agent as much as snow. Garth should never have promised him that he'd be in the nhl all year.

With 2 career nhl goals and only 1 that season, Nino should have shut up and played in the AHL. Equal fault all around.

Also agree 100%
If someone has a bad game no hustling or hitting then insert one of the extras
On defense
Hammer dehaan
Pollock Reinhart
VISNOVSKY and Hickey

Note VISNOVSKY will be hurt probably after the first month anyway
Then put in Brennan
We are week we need a trade.

Hamonic Dehaan
Visnovsky Reinhart
Pulock Hickey
Brennan

I'd try and keep Hamonic/Dehaan at 22 minutes, then split the remainder equally between the bottom 4. I'd give Reinhart more time on the pk and Pulock more time on the PP.

This is purely my own view and what I'd be interested in seeing. I do not believe they'll actually have both Reinhart and Pulock on the roster at the same time unless Dehaan and Visnovsky are both out to start the year and then one of the rookies will be sent down as soon as Dehaan or LV are back and ready to go.

after any trade made, it is expected that player sit out of the lineup as a healthy scratch for a week to learn how best to suck while he's on the ice. If we traded for Crosby we'd do the same thing because our coach has a head full of rocks.

Has to go to two team meetings first. Read part of an article in newsday at the supermarket while I was checking out. Looks like it'll be strome who starts at the bridge.

At this point, if CMac, Martin, Strait all got injured before our first game, I really wouldn't care.

Sad that's what it takes for Cappy to dress the best team possible.

Martin, I would care.

It's sad, I liked McDonald a lot down the stretch two seasons ago, but he was hot garbage last season. Terrible.

In all honesty, really don't care what team is iced for opening night as long as this team jumps out of the gate well. The starting out slow & long losing streaks cant happen early into season and thru-out. With some teams having issues/injuries with important players, isles need to capitalize on the early opportunity.....

If strome or lee or both gets sent down hopefully it works out for the best. They looked good to me in the limited time I saw but who knows maybe it'll work out for the best? I dont agree with it at this point but ive seen 3 preseason games. Ill say one thing though. If they crap the bed right out of the gate (the team) there's going to be full on panic throughout this organization and they will once again look like a bunch of fools.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do only bc of the 2way contracts. I think that w/majority of players on 1way contracts will have 20g of evaluation before being banned off the island. This is the only reason why I think most of the kids could start in Bridgeport w/the 1 exception of being Reinhart bc of the weakness of size on D. I think the obvious McD & Carkner who really have no purpose could be exposed to waivers but no one would care.... Plus I see Viz injured early and done for season......

I find it hard to fathom that both Lee and Strome would start in B-port. Hasn't Lee played well so far?

If u read my comments correctly I didn't say they will, I wouldn't be surprised if they did bc of having too many players on 1way contracts, in which the kids don't need to be exposed to waivers. U also have to take into acct of the past of holding on tooooooooooo long of Regin, PMB, etc. This year is different, that's why I mentioned that I could see some players get a 20g evaluation. I'm not saying this will happen but wont be surprised if it did.

I disagree....you watch a healthy Clutterbuck does this year. He got that nasty cut last year and never recouped Was the best player on the team last night. We have strome ,Hu-sung, Da-colle, maybe Anders lee, Brock nelson type nino player in our system . I guaranty you clutterbuck gets more points than Nino this year. I think he got an excellent return for a trade that was forced by a whinny player. Like i said if Vanek signs that trade would have been awesome. The deadline trade was for a rental player....what did you expect to get for Vanek. Look how that turned out for Montreal. Montreal gave up a Colberg(first rounder) and second pick for Vanek and he played like crap for them.
- dack1972

What the dack are you talking about?

Cal's best season was 2010-11 where in 76 games he amassed a total of 34 pts 19G / 15A. 2011-12 he played 74 games and put up 27pts. You're calling a mulligan for last year because of a cut on his hand and that he was never the same? Hahaha.
Yashin played with a broken finger in the playoffs and led the team in scoring—and he is considered soft & a russian prima donna. Cal's a tough guy by most accounts.

Nino had 36 pts in 81 games with Minny. He had 3 points in 56 games with Isles.

It's a weird circumstance with him because of his age & eligibility at the time but to blame him for being frustrated is totally unfair. He had every right to be frustrated, seeing Rolston, Pandawful & Reasoner eat up minutes and contribute nothing. Sorry, Nino getting screwed up falls all on the weak shoulders of Garth & Cappy. Poor use of assets. Period.

I'll bet you as much as you are willing to lose that Nino outscores Clutterbuck.
Dan holds the $$$$.

From where you live and the limited press on this team, how do you come to the conclusion he was a whiner? See my reply to dack.

I doubt Thornton spent the entire season on the 4th line but even if he did, it's a rarity. I'll also guess those Bruins teams were way more talented on offense than 2011-12 Isles.

He did, and you're not entirely wrong, but at that point Nino had earned nothing and demanding a trade because you don't immediately get an NHL cheque is not the way to endear yourself to the team. At that point you don't keep a cancer around the team. I wish they'd got more for him but that's dealing from a position of weakness.

you say I have bailey blinders or some of you just hate on him too much.
- Spartiarti

I'm going to say this again- he is "offensive-awareness" challenged. When you have no idea what to do with the puck when you have it, or where to be in the offensive zone without it, it sure as he11 will look like you're lazy and uninspired. I'm not saying he works his a$$ off all the time, because he doesn't, which also doesn't help the situation, but most of his problem is that you can't fix forever being a half step behind the rest of the kids. Decisions at this point in his career should be part of a perpetual flow of movement- he shouldn't still be standing still for visible time periods and looking around to try and figure out what to do. If he doesn't have that figured out by now, there simply isn't anything you can do about that, at all. The only chance we have is for him to become a solid defensive player, and for that, he HAS TO work hard, every night, which may be something else he doesn't have in him. My guess is that if he makes this team ahead of Strome, and Strome goes to the AHL and scores 40 points in 20 games, Bailey will have to disappear, however Snow has to make that happen.

I think Strome has a harder time making this team's 23 man roster, mostly because if he's here, he will have to be logging top end minutes. Lee can kind of fit in as a LW (where we have less of a log jam of talent in general) on any line, and can also fill in at center, because of his size and style of play (he's older and probably always will be larger than Strome). Strome, at this point, has to be a right wing on one of the top two lines, or else it's a waste to have him here, like Niederreiter a couple of years ago. Plain and simple- Bailey, who is an overpaid stiff, is guaranteed to be in his way, because of the "overpaid" part, at least early in the season. Lee doesn't have that problem.
