You were ready to trade Kessel for spare parts a second ago and Kadri a legit 2nd line center with potential who looks like he may have a bit of a breakout year for a 3rd line center who ranked 9th in ice time in the playoffs on a team who got eliminated in the first round.
- HealthyScratch6

spar parts? what are you talking about

Agreed, Rattie would have to be included with Berglund. Blues would want a pick with Kadri as well, though I'm guessing how high would be a matter of negotiation.

Then we dont trade kadri leafs wouldnt add in this situation at all.

Kadri didnt have a down season.
The 48 game season saw him riding some very high underlying stats.. the regression last season was expected. he is a 55-65 point player at this point

- senstroll

ok, well I don't think we can afford to trade him for a 30-35 point player with a bigger contract.

No its called being not a bias leafs fan and thinking everything we own is worth 4 first round picks or untouchable players.
- jake24242

That wasn't said. My only statement was Kadri for Berglund isn't anywhere close to even. And overvalueing opposing team's players is how we got into the Steen for Stempniak mess in the first place.

If he managed to hit 65 pts that would put him at about 15th in the league among centers. Not bad for our second line center.

Kadri's in a contract year so her will be asking 5+ this summer. Berglund has put up 50 points before when he was on the second line. So I think in the east and hell he could take bozak's spot his offensive numbers would be inflated to more then 30-35.

No one on here has over valued Berglund we all agree they add a good prospect.

Berglund is far superior two way and adds grit.
- Iggysbff

Berglund doesn't "add grit" over Kadri. Sorry.

Not to mention he's a flying elbow throwing little female dog.

If youre talking about him nudging Backstrom, that was the most overblown play of the year. Skating at that pace it would take him 45 seconds to go from one end of the ice to the other. What a dive.

The 48 game season saw him playing really well 5 on 5. Last year, he peformed on the PP, his 5 on 5 play was much worse. Could have to do with the fact he was anchored with guys who wouldn't go to the net (Kulimen) and guys who had no idea how to attack the net off the rush (Clarkson). Lupul also stopped going to the tough areas. This led to Kadri trying to do too much again, overhandling the puck, and bad habits creeped in. Hopefully this season we see improvement in all these areas. Berglund certainly isn't worth not giving Kadri another chance to shine.

I have noticed a lot of Ek's blogs haven't been getting many hits lately. Earlier on in the week I thought that we would see a Leafs blog soon to drum up some activity. Anyone else think the same?

Oh, and (frank) the Ice Girls.

What's wrong with Lululemon and a nice team shirt? Less revealing always leaves you wanting more. Think of the cross-over branding?

Berglund is a 3rd line player, the Leafs have many of these at the moment... he is not the target.

If the Leafs are moving Kadri it is for a player like Oshie or Steen..

When there was rumors this summer about Berglund coming to the leafs I heard the guys on TSN saying that he's soft for a big guy. Never learned to consistently use his size to his advantage.

Sorry man, but one 50 point season followed by a 20 point season screams Kulimen to me.

Yes, but he's a year older and has finally played a full season in the NHL. Lupul has had his surgery, so maybe he goes back to being what he was. And don't rule out the infusion of someone like a Leivo on that line.

If anything, I think the Leafs are looking for a forward to play with Kadri, they are not looking to trade Kadri.

47, 52 , 38 point seasons as a second liner isnt bad but not great I do not disagree that he could be a Kulimen as you say but since bozak isnt really a true number 1 you never know what he can do given the chance right. Again blues add more to get kadri of course.
