Yeah, we could give them another bottom pairing guy for another one of their top 4. As long as they threw in a draft pick and retained salary again, obviously. - Antilles
by the end of the year, gunnarsson was playing 10,12 mins a game. Decent player, but one of the softest d-men in the league. I don't think either team will really regret this trade, and Polak has looked great for the leafs (minus the penalties) |

How is Gunnar's hip is the question. I think the Blues got damaged goods, which few are talking about. |

Seemed chronic but to his credit he played through it. Unfortunately the Leafs didn't have better options to allow him to rest. |

One thing I thought of when the Polak Gunnar trade happened was the practice game at Scott-trade Center a couple years back when Backes got in a legit scrap along the boards by the bench. Players were pulling them off eachother...during a scrimmage. I know Backes plays hard all the time and I could see how tempers could flare but I also got the impression (mostly from social media) that Polak's only friend on the team seemed to be Sobotka. Maybe things in the locker room weren't so hunky dory for Polak. And if I recall he was quoted saying "he couldn't imagine playing here without Sobe" after Sobotka left for the KHL, or something to that effect.
Also Berglund is nowhere near as good as Kadri. And Toronto would be silly to trade him for Bergy as some had suggested unless a or some seriously good prospects were included. If the Blues traded for Lupul I'd scream.
Also I don't think Oshie is as untouchable as some seem to think. I'd hate to seem him go though. But his value probably hasn't ever been higher. Love the way he plays though, exemplifies but I expect from "Blues hawkey".

wow, an extremely unbiased post. A lot of people who dislike the leafs undervalue everyone on the roster. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out Kadri has more value than Berglund.
I don't really see a Lupul trade happening either, unless the leafs are sold that Leivo can be the top 6 LW. But we would need a top 6 winger in return.

P.S. Everyone seems to think Lehtera's succes is predicated on Tarasenko, but wouldn't forget about Schwartz being HUGE for that line. IF he's not playing on the top line that is. Everyone talks about Tarasenko until they're blue in the face but Schwartz is the real deal. Steals pucks like candy from a baby. |

There is no truth to this rumour whatsoever!
Leafs are trying to move Ashton, Orr and MacLaren....good luck with any of that! Nonis trying to get a 5th rounder and packaging some prospects to make it happen. Look to the Islanders and Canes for a deal, they are te most opt to take on some salary and toughness. |

I need to start proof reading lol. That first paragraph was a little confusing. I was supposed to clarify the scrap was between Polak and Backes. |

Leafs would never make a deal like that. Kadri would cost much more. - DoubleDown
Thank you fellow Habs fan for not being a homer like the rest of the opposing fans on here. Kadri is soooo much more valuable than Berglund. What a joke. |
