Berglund for Kadri, or something along those lines, is about all that makes sense between Blues & Maple Leafs. - Antilles
Those were the two players I immediately thought of. |

Rielly is a dman.
Not Kessel or JVR. Blues wouldn't want Lupul. Only top 6 that fits the description would be Kadri. - Iggysbff
I know Morgan is a d-man and likely untouchable but he is one of the very few on the roster that would have any interest.
Kadri makes no sense... The top 3 centers will be Stastny and Lehtera and one of Backes, Berglund, Steen, or even Schwartz. Kadri was last year's need. We went out and got two centers that are better than Kadri imho.
Lupul's injury factor is way to high plus he creates a cap issue due to his 5.25 million contract.

But why would the Leafs do that?
Berglund is a 30-40 point guy.
Kadri put up 44 in 48 games, and 50 in 78 these last two seasons... and he's 3 years younger.
Why would the Leafs downgrade at center? |

Kadri for Berglund makes some sense, works economically, etc. but also seems kind of pointless in some respects though it would buy $800k in cap space. |

I seriously doubt the Blues are looking for another top 6 forward. It already looks like Oshie, and Berglund are gonna be on our 3rd line with all the depth we have. As for that Clarkson+Orr for Backes, that's got be the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Nobody wants Clarkson. |

Berglund is far superior two way and adds grit. |

Kadri's probably not it, unless the Blues are looking to overpay.
It's most likely Lupul.
I mean, assuming there's even a shred of truth to the rumour. - Feeling Glucky?

Doesn't really add grit over Kadri, and we already added bottom-6 players for the defensive game. No need to trade a top-6 guy for another bottom-6er. |

Maybe because it would be a better prospect going to you guys?
You guys gave us Steen..... |

Berglund is a 40-50 point guy and scores at a very similar rate and that is with him getting a lot less quality TOI due to the better other forwards.
The reason would be the other parts of the trade being slightly advantaged to the Leafs (prospect side) but that framework is at least close depending on how each team feels about the other players.

Oilers could use Berglund. We'll give you Tkacheav, Hunt and Lander for Berglund. |

but you're right, you guys do owe us.
You can add Oshie to Backes in for Clarkson and Orr. |

Berglund is better than most think.
He is also a very good 2 way center/LW.
I don't want Kadri anyway. |

that doesn't mean anything. you can say Berglund is a superior two-way player than Patrick Kane or Phil Kessel. so what? not every player needs to excel in the defensive zone. Kadri is far more skilled and being 3 years younger, he still has some room to grow his game. you don't trade 23-year-old second line centres for 26-year-old third line centres. |

Berglund is a 40-50 point guy who hasn't scored over 40 points in 3 years.

Not to mention, Kadri's defensive woes are very overstated. |

Kadri scores at a significantly better rate over his career while being 3 years younger. he's already the better offensive player and he's got another year or two before he even peaks. |
