Its true. They rarely if ever give a diving penalty without calling the other guy. SO it makes it worth the chance of diving ever once and a while. If you feel a 'tug' you just fall and see what happens. As long as someone is actually holding you or hooking you. What I can't stand is the 'phantom' dives when a guy isn't touched and he goes down. Or when guys throw their head back like they got a stick in the face and the replay clearly shows otherwise... this goes on A LOT with every team!

Never.

The NHL should have one Ref off the ice in front of a tv set. Let him call down to the guys on ice.... it would bring a whole new dynamic and cut out a lot of crap...

Didn't the GMS talk about a 'coaches challenge' to deal with stuff like this?

is that what this game needs ? is more game play stoppage i for one am not looking forward to a 5 hr regular season game again, mind you im also not a huge fan of the shoot out myself but it does help on a sat night when there are multiple games to watch and i can still get to bed before 4 am while watching a west coast game

just saying

If you gave each Coach 1 'challenge' it wouldn't add much time. The thing that adds time to NHL games is the continuous TV time outs... Take those out and you would save 30 minutes easy...

true but the nhl would never do that ..lets be honest that's there bread and butter right now well that ,,and having the 2 biggest Canadian tv disturbers owing the leafs doesn't hurt i guess i can see you point though there has to be something in place to for a coach/team to do when there is doubt on a call,,,

As long as it works and the refs are stupid enough to fall for it then that's just doing whatever it takes to win. But it starts to look foolish when the refs catch on. Honestly, I did cringe everytime I saw the Canucks dive. If you're gonan do it once in awhile, save it for the big games or something so you don't develop a big time rep around the league.

I'd say that players in big hockey markets get spotlighted for it more than players who don't play in big markets. That's a nice advantage for the smaller market teams.

Even if it is called, it is still only a wash. Diving should be called more often and a 4minute penalty (to balance out the 2minute penalty that probably should be called on the other team).

As much as I like Lehtera, there's no chance he will be better than Kadri. Kadri's more in the Jaden Schwartz/TJ Oshie class of player imo.

I think you're missing Lehtera's main purpose. As I see it, Lehtera has the potential to turn Tarasenko into a force to be reckoned with. The two had outstanding chemistry in the KHL and it looks as though they still do.

On a team that went 18-27-9?
You know who else had outstanding chemistry? Linus Omark and Johan Harju.
i do think Lehtera will be a very useful player.....but 50 points....he'll be close, but doubt he surpasses it.

Berglund is a 40-50 point guy and scores at a very similar rate and that is with him getting a lot less quality TOI due to the better other forwards.

The reason would be the other parts of the trade being slightly advantaged to the Leafs (prospect side) but that framework is at least close depending on how each team feels about the other players.

Listen up, Kadri and Bergland should not even be mentioned in the same sentence. Kadri has start power and the other guy is a third liner. You St. Louis posters have been drinking too much blue Kool-Aid, haha

Perhaps the Flyers could show this video as the women do their respected vocations.

Following Ek's request for respectful dialogue, I do not see how it gets any better than this.

I never gave any presumption of point totals. You can quote stats all you want, but it only takes one game to recognize that there's a little magic happening when Lehtera and Tarasenko are on the ice together.

Comparing Tarasenko to Omark or Harju

Barring injury to himself or Tarasenko, I'd take the over on 50 points.

I think he is going to get a bunch of assists.

50 points is a good goal for him, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if he tops that with Tarasenko on his wing.
