Who is "you guys"?
The only thing I'm "crying" about is your whole bullpoop about typical leaf fans---or only a Leaf fan would think this.

ouch not trying to start a flame war with the Canadian fans but that's kinda funny as well

Well "Laffs" is pretty good as far as succinct (and applicable) insults go. It is kinda played out now though.

The season before Kadri had 1:40 a game more with one less opponent on the ice and Berglund had one less goal in the same number of games.

Again, my whole premise was that it was a starting point. Rattie and Berglund for Kadri is a big overpayment, one the Blues don't need thanks to signing Stastny and Lehtera. Of course that all changes, if a 2nd in 2015 is coming back with Kadri.

- stljam

I like how you point out the 1 less goal but ignore the 18 less assists he had in a 48 game season minutes after calling a guy out for selective stats

I love how you're already assuming this guy fills a role in an NHL lineup.

Fair enough, but who in the past draft would you trade JVR for?

Obviously, there might be players that end up being better, but it is a pretty big risk to take.

- Aetherial

If Leaf management's change in philosophy adopted the position that the current team is crap and they needed to go for a full rebuild, I could see them dumping anybody other than Rielly.

I wouldn't trade JVR for the Ekblad or anyone in that draft. He's a second overall pick with huge upside.
- HealthyScratch6

Upside? He's 25. He was drafted 7 years ago.

Seems that he doesn't have a sense of humor.

Kinda normal for a Leafs Fan.

All your blabbering on aside, do you actually believe the Leafs would be smart to trade Berglund for Kadri?
- prock

I don't have enough info to even begin to make the call. Has Kadri express RJ type demands on his pending RFA? If so, that changes my gm though process.

Otherwise, I wouldn't at least not straight up. If I was the gm, I'd want to gamble on Kadri's potential upside rather than taking the more rounded player. As a Leafs GM, I know my cup run is not now so why get a little older and safer.

Other than dollars and positions, they don't seem like a good trade fit to me. Will Hitch really want to give up a guy he was worked to become a more rounded player and a PK option (especially given Sobotka left)?

Ah played out. So I guess no one should use Laffs, Lames, Coilers etc anymore. Don't act like the leafs are the only team that gets called names.

And an athlete's prime is typically 27-29. It's likely he's still getting better.

Yeah and he had his first breakout season last year with 30 goals 61 pts and looks even better this year. The guy is 6'3 has wheels and sick hands. I would chaulk that up to huge upside.

Yes because all players bottom out at that age. It's not like Kessel broke out at 25

Of course he had less points, he wasn't playing a top 6 role. I wouldn't expect him to have the same goals or points as a second line center unless you were really disappointed in that second line center's season.

1. Kadri nearly doubled his point totals.
Kadri
ES TOI 13:39
SH TOI 0:10
PP TOI 2:12

Berglund
ES TOI 13:07
SH TOI 1:21
PP TOI 2:20
Where do you get that 1:40 figure from?

Kadri played 3rd line that season.

I think (hope) he is basically what he was last season and at that level, with that contract for the next couple years there just wasn't enough enticing in the last draft.

Now, if it was the upcoming draft, then yeah, I think most Leafs fans would be all in on that.

JVR one for one, I’d do. Obviously Nylander for Ekblad is a no-brainer. But I’m with you, JVR + Nylander for Ekblad is a definite no. And someone talking Shattenkirk for Rielly above? No. Big no. I like Shattenkirk, but Rielly’s potential (yes, I know it’s just potential), is well above and beyond what Shattenkirk is.
