What's the matter Iggy? A little butthurt? No snappy comeback?
Maybe you can refer to the Toronto team as the "Laffs" again because that is so funny and original. - Aetherial
Leafs fans are the ones all butt hurt. One mention of Kadri's propensity to dive and give out elbows and you all attack. Good times. |

So we are looking for a few more proven/unproven guys? - walshyleafsfan
Again, I said I didn't think it would happen only that there could be logic.
part of the crazy deal hinges on whether or not it is better to have two very good players and a good prospect or one great player and a better prospect. Many gms answer that question differently, especially based on the situation.

KAdri should captain the Habs. |

then don't tell other people not to overvalue their players when you wouldn't trade a one-dimensional 60-point winger for the top pick in the draft. - DoubleDown
JVR a first line left winger for a very weak number one pick. No thanks.
I wouldn't trade pacioretty for the number 1 pick either. |

I like how he's defending MacT for not doing his job to the fullest extent in that post. |

Kadri does dive, he'll get dinged for it going forward if he doesn't change his ways. The two elbows he threw were dumb, and he accepted the consequences. Who's attacking? |

Its the same situation. Lol. It was an obscure clause in the CBA that was missed by Calgary. Same with this one.
Mact admitted they and the agent read the first part of the clause and stopped reading after they believed he met the criteria. They missed the part later down when it said a full season in the chl.

Selective stat selection here and perhaps unfamiliarity with the Blues, at least giving you the benefit of the doubt.
The year you quote was Berglund's worst from a point per game stand point and considered a disappointment by all. It also ignores his role change for last year.
Look at the full ice time picture, not just TOI. Kadri had almost 1 minute more per game on the PP and a minute and a half more of even strength time. As a result, he had 2 and a half minutes of advantaged ice time (based on sheer amount of players on the ice and ignoring line mates). Again, this is a sheer numbers advantage in that he played two and a half minutes more with one less person to defend against him and his teammates. Said another way, almost 16% of Berglund's TOI was at a disadvantage in players on the ice compared to Kadri.
Who did Kardi play with on the PP? Kessell? Lupul? JVR? As far as power play line mates, those are a lot better than Oshie, Backes and Steen. Who did Kadri have on his even strength wing? Kadri with Lupul seems better than Berglund with Roy for example. - stljam
All your blabbering on aside, do you actually believe the Leafs would be smart to trade Berglund for Kadri?

He's just not that strong on his skates. He's gotten better since his first season though.

JVR and 8th overall for the first was the deal. And I wouldn't do JVR for Ekblad anyways. - JVR_42_PK81
I wouldn't trade JVR for the Ekblad or anyone in that draft. He's a second overall pick with huge upside. |

IMO, it would be as smart a trade as Steen for Stempniak. |

Ok, lets go with the season before....
GP G A PTS +/- ATOI
Kadri '12-'13 TOR 48 18 26 44 15 16:03
Berglund 12-13STL 48 17 8 25 -2 16:50
And I know who Berglund is, and i know how the Blues deploy their lines. I'm a Leaf fan sure, but that doesn't mean I'm not familiar with whats going on around the NHL, including your team. - mykokes
The season before Kadri had 1:40 a game more with one less opponent on the ice and Berglund had one less goal in the same number of games.
Again, my whole premise was that it was a starting point. Rattie and Berglund for Kadri is a big overpayment, one the Blues don't need thanks to signing Stastny and Lehtera. Of course that all changes, if a 2nd in 2015 is coming back with Kadri. |

Fair enough, but who in the past draft would you trade JVR for?
Obviously, there might be players that end up being better, but it is a pretty big risk to take.
