While I'm not against MSL as captain, you bring up a good point. Maybe Marty could be the co-captain without the letter. Kind of like we all know Richards was that type of guy when he was here. - mdw7413
Ageeed. Same thing with Gretzky back in the late 90's after Messier left for Vancouver. I don't see MSL getting the C just because his stay here is probably going to only last until the end of this season; maybe next. I don't see the Rangers naming a guy to be captain for one year (and being a guy they traded for just about six months prior). McD, Girardi, or trade for Dubinsky and name him Captain |

Just a quick thought about the idea of a 2 for 1 deal, with the spot of that 7th defensman up for grabs and a bit of low point of training camp, I wonder if it could be filled via a trade |

Yes but that doesn't help getting down a contract to fit Duke |

AV says Marty will be playing center in the next preseason game he plays. |

In the blog! Wooooooooo!
Man, hope to see Duclair make the team, really exceeding expectations. Would prefer McDonagh as captain, but get that St. Louis may get it.
Sall I got boys! Work sucks! |

Sounds like Trotz will use Backstrom - Kutznetsov - Burakovsky as his center depth to start the season...that has the potential to very quickly become one of the best center cores in the league. |

Let's not pretend they're the Kings... We'll see about the 2nd and 3rd line. Have either played a full season in the N yet? |

Kuznetsov played LW at the end of the year for the Caps. Burakosky played LW in Erie last year with McDavid and Strome as the 1-2 punch for the Otters. |

Larry Brooks talking as if it's a foregone conclusion at this point Duclair is staying and brings up a scenario like Sather trading "Yogan and a 5th for future considerations" to rid a contract.
I think they are waiting to see if one of those guys from yesterday gets plucked on waivers which would be the best scenario, if not, then something like the above will happen.

I am not sure of the rules but can't they cut someone to get rid of a contract? Or do they have to be traded? I guess all contracts are guaranteed. |

that would be a buyout and the buyout period has passed
I really believe if they had known they were going to get Kevin Hayes, one of the earlier signings would never have happened |

Isn't there a second buyout period?

Yea I agree. I am curious if teams try to screw the Rangers and refuse to trade with them. |

so you don't think it would be a huge benefit for Anthony Duclair to be around a french canadian hockey icon like Martin St. Louis for a full year? - jimbro83
of course it a benefit ,its not detrimental,is it what the kid needs?
to tag along a pro or play meaning ful hockey all season,it was a loaded ques . not fair to ask it

What message? Best players play? I am not getting your logic in why you think it's a bad thing for a kid to make the team because he is earning it. - MidnightMarauder
message ..everyhting send or makes a meaning to a team ..this kid ha s put a monthj of hockey out ..a month ? no said boo from the traverse games even...
u cant have an experienced vet team looka at training camp & laugh at the fans
who fall in love at 1st siting of a goal scorer .... message is ... we aint chop liver
fromm the players point ,we didnt think a 19 yr w/ a good timed camp will ipset the apple cart gimme a break ,thats what s wrong w/ plugging in & out ,players know the real deal ,this kid aint proved that
19 = phenom = put him on ice .....
he aint no phenom ,hes just got hot , iif NYR keeps him its as much as saying we aint got much to work with , why not bump him up to #1 line ? Joke of a premise |

I mean you say he hasn't proved anything yet...well how else is he gonna get a chance to? By this logic the Rangers should never play him since he has no real season game experience yet. Do you want the Rangers to trade all there rookies? |

Are you not watching any of the preseason games and just trolling right now?
Serious question. - MidnightMarauder
seerous answer ,its insulting to ask ,is your answer funny ? or just simple minded
i appraoch this with the level headed ness expected not the fanatic fan ....
Duclair represents nothing more than a flash in the pan...period
nothing about him or his game is so exceptional that he warrants all thisa consideration except the media buzz we give it ...wow kid scores a few goals in exhibition, did he do it all by himself or something ,
we are a cup finalist with so much depth it hurts ...
he was /is a 3rd rd what .... STAR ,,, how long watching hockey son???? |

so basically you are saying he can't possibly be good because he was a 3rd round pick, does that summarize the entire basis of your rationale? |
