Really interesting discussion, MacT certainly seems to have the support of Oil fans on here.
Wonder how much support he will have by mid-season. It certainly looks like another 29th place finish this year.

It's really two different situations. If we are still in a playoff hunt come mid-season, is anyone really going to care about losing a prospect we could've never had anyway?
On the flip side, if we are mathematically out it will just be another dagger used against him. |

in what way does it CERTAINLY look like that?
waits on the weak attempts at justifying his troll so i can tear it apart.....
this tkachev thing is silly. i cant believe it's warranted this much discussion |

It's retarded. It's not like he was going to make your team out of camp or even in the next 2years. The Oil brass now have a great read on the kid. Depending on what he does this season, they'll have the best gauge OG where picking him is value. Some other GM may take him sooner, but may not gauge his value properly.
Moving on. |

As for the Oil, they look better on paper and should push themselves out of the basement (finally). I'd say finishing 10th in the waist would be an accomplishment and a sign of positive movement. Although I'll caution that things looks on the up and up before with this team only to fall straight back down to the basement floor. Until it happens I wouldn't be betting the farm on anything. And anything less than 10th would be a failure, IMO. |

2 good posts bro.
tkachev was a nobody midget that showed he could play. against rooks and in training camp. nice to see, and too bad we couldnt sign him, but meh. we'll get a crack at him in the middle rounds if we love him so much.
and yeah, id be ok with tenth. but really, regardless of actual standings finish, the real goal should be meaningful games down to the wire. we havent had that in awhile. being in that playoff hunt would ensure the one thing i think we need more than anything.
sustained and regular success for these kids development. (instead of a hot ten game stretch after we've been eliminated 2 months earlier) |

I might've also called another guy a gaf in the same sentence.
Something like "oh look it's the jew, idiot and gaf all in one thread"
The jew was jew
The idiot was a troll
The gaf was a troll as well.

i can see it now a saturday night game in march, chants and jerseys rain down from the rexall arena or whatever, "FIRE MAC T, FIRE MAC T, FIRE MAC T" as the oilers sit in 4th last in the league (so they don't get one of the big 3) |

Certainly? Based on what? The near complete roster turnover in just over a calendar year? |

again;
"even if it is just on paper at present, far better doesnt take much. a playoff berth is leagues ahead of where we were. but i dont even expect that. i consider just being in the mix for a playoff spot in february FAR better.
im not neccesarily claiming anything in terms of how great we will or wont be. its even possible that we were so far behind the elites of the west that far better wont result in huge standing changes. just that there's no doubt we filled some huge holes and are bigger, deeper, stronger, more mature, deeper in net, and better defensively than we have been. outside of the 'more mature' part from the core kids, the rest is mact's doing"
your turn |

You really are retarded. Ference , Perron, , Marincin and Klefbom were not Oilers prior to last year. Seriously, you are in special Ed aren't you? I mean, if you tried really hard you couldn't be stupider. |

There is plenty you can do to incite an decent conversation out of me, not opening your initial reply with something idiotic would be a start. I commented that in the last year he damn near turned over the entire roster and you felt the need to point out that he hadn't.
When Mac T took over what ,15 months ago, he added Hendricks, Gordon, Nikitin, Fayne, Pouliot, Ference, Perron, Purcell, Joensuu, Scrivens ,Fasth and graduated Klefbom and Marincin.
The only NHL players remaining from the Tambo era are Hall, Nuge, Ebs, Yak , Schultz and Petry.
So yes, he turned over near the entire roster.
Is that a little more clear for you? |
|

|
Certainly? Based on what? The near complete roster turnover in just over a calendar year? - Jeropotato
Based on the team that was on the ice last year for 82 games bringing the same core into the next season.
And if RNH happens to get injured, I look at the roster and have a hard time justifying an argument where the team I'm looking at is better than the team that finished 28th the season prior. It's a good sign he played a full season last year, but injuries happen and his workload is only increasing.
It just doesn't feel like the train wreck is over. Can anyone agree with that?
