Oh I agree, but Mac T can only fix this club on paper. From the time he took over this club these were the major issues.

1.Lack of Quality Veterans to support the Wunderkins.
2.Young or immobile defense.
3.Shoddy Goaltending.
4.Too many Smallish and/or Soft Forwards.

On paper he has addressed most of these issues.

1.Added Fayne, Nikitin, Pouliot, Purcell, Gordon, Hendricks
2.Added Fayne, Ferrence, Nikitin
3.Added Bryzgalof, Scrivens, Fasth, Brossoit
4.Adeed Pouliot, Purcell, Perron, Gordon, Hendricks, Drafted Yakimov and Draisaitl

You tell me, is Mac T not working feverishly to address these issues? What more can we ask of a GM? Is there a golden trade or 2 that he has avoided that we don't know about?

I'd say each one of those guys has more starting experience than either Scrivens or Fasth. You act like starting goaltenders are impossible to find or acquire, so we should just grab a couple as cheaply as possible. I truly hope they work out, but history shows that you get what you pay for, and expecting simply "NHL-level goaltending" is setting the bar pretty low. Also, do you think good players simply can't come out of the third round, or the Oilers haven't drafted a decent one in so long that you doubt the scouting staff's ability?

They already did. Fasth and scrivens for a couple 4ths made us better than with dubnyk period. This team was totally different in the second half of last season.

And why do we need to play games to say this? There's no possibility outside losing every key player to injury that we'll be worse.
How much better or how big a step can we take is up for debate of course, but not that we're bigger, deeper, more mature and have a better defence.

even if it is just on paper at present, far better doesnt take much. a playoff berth is leagues ahead of where we were. i consider just being in the mix for a playoff spot in february FAR better.

im not neccesarily claiming anything in terms of how great we will or wont be. its even possible that we were so far behind the elites of the west that far better wont result in huge standing changes. just that there's no doubt we filled some huge holes and are bigger, deeper, stronger, more mature, deeper in net, and better defensively than we have been. outside of the 'more mature' part from the core kids, the rest is mact's doing
