ya that was it! i have no problem with the badges. i ended up with either gold or silver most of the time. by no means athletic but not bad enough to get made fun of. the participation cert though? come on... some kids are just fat. no need to humiliate them.

As long as you do your best. Yay.

I think there is going to be a lot of "participant" ribbons in Vancouver this year.

Trying to remember all the other events. Arm pull static hold - bar at eye level, shuttle run (I think that's what it was called?) 40 yard sprint. So much fun, and the schools took it very seriously...at least ours did.

Autopick never gets you good enough goalies or dmen to win the league.

I have lundqvist, varlarmov and Lehner as well as green and yandle, so it could be worse...

i remember in elementary school we had a system for gym/athletics. best scores got a red badge for "Excellence". second best got gold, followed by silver and bronze. you'd think that would just be it, right? we were what, 9 years old? but no. there had to be a level of humiliation that exceeded bronze. the "Participation" certificate. not even a badge. just a (frank)ing piece of paper handed out in front of the entire class. we had this one fat diabetic kid who always ended up getting it. probably became a date rapist.
