If your two best skating, and defensible 'able' dmen are getting beaten to the outside by prospects, you're in for a long night.

Any chance at all we can see the forward lines look like this:

Schenn - Giroux - Voracek
Read - Couturier - Simmonds
Umberger - Vinny - Akeson
Leier - Laughton - Raffl

I think they bring the best 12 forward. The 4th line can play in all situations and actually control play and not just be an "energy line"

- tjp2033

That's how I see it, but I think Leier starts in the AHL and Rinaldo starts. Just how it is.

Leier is looking more and more like a player that just won't go away quietly.

Rinaldo better watch himself.....His boy Rosehill can always use some company in the Shelley Suite.

He's a blue-chip offensive defenseman and skates very well but is an average prospect right now in other areas. You noted the areas where he needs work. As Terry Murray very astutely said after the Rookies Game against the Caps, let's say Gostisbehere plays 22 minutes. What he does for the 20 minutes where he does NOT have the puck or is otherwise able to pinch up on the play will determine how good of a pro he will be.
- bmeltzer

how about that play in the 3rd last night where he dove to cleanly take the puck off the stick of the forward on the rush, then knocked it away a second time while still sprawling

Yeah, we all know Bellemare or Aekson would be the odd man out.

After what those bastards did to Smaug...

Actually, I never saw the movies. Didn't like reading LOTR, didn't care for the movies, or at least the first one. I'm like Randall in Clerks 2

Don't worry, I'm sure Clerks 3 will be much, much better.

I did like Jay doing the Buffalo Bill scene from Silence of The Lambs, too. But the rest of it was pretty bad.

I still think Rinaldo and Bellemare are on the 4th line, and Laughton and Leier start the year with the Phantoms.

Hextall needs to ask himself two questions. First, would having Leier and Laughton on the big club substantially affect their playoff chances this year? I do agree with having a great 4th line that can provide balance in ice time and contribute offensively/defensively.

But honestly, do you see them challenging for 1st or 2nd in Metro this year? I think they're a borderline playoff team myself. And I don't see Laughton and Leier substantially changing that.

So, if having them on the Flyers will only marginally affect their record this year, what is the best option for the player's long-term futures? I still think they're better served with a bigger role in the A . And the Phantoms would be much more competitive with Laughton and Leier. This in turn helps Hagg, Stolarz and Ghost along with the other prospects on the Phantoms.

This is about as close to an NHL lineup as you’ll get. 10-28-93; 12-40-18; 24-14-17;36-78-42 D: 50-5; 8-32; 22-15

I had to look some of these numbers up.

Its an interesting 4th line for sure. But I think Raffl has earned a spot in the top 9. Akeson, not so much.

ghost has been by far been our best dman all preseason, no one else even close.

morin seems to be getting better every game, if ghost dont make the team that would be a huge disjustice to him just because he is young, he is ready imo.

Personally, I'd flip Akeson and Raffl. Akeson is a little more creative which would help Vinnie. Raffl is a stronger 2-way player. Flipping them makes the 4th line stronger which would allow you to play them more without being exposed.

That is the likely starting lineup just with Amac instead of Morin. I'm kind of excited to see Morin with Coburn.

I wonder why Rosehill didn't play last night instead of that waste of space Stortini.
