Yes, I would put him above Del Zotto for sure. But I don't think it's an apples to apples comparison when comparing players who are motivated to try and achive a goal of becomining an NHL player, versus players who are established and aren't playing with the same motivation in the pre season.

Absolutely, and that's why I put that caveat in there. So let me ask this:

Let's just say, for the sake of argument, that the Flyers don't send him down and keep his as a healthy scratch for, let's say, the first 2 games. Over those first 2 games, let's say MDZ keeps playing at the level that he's played in the preseason, when the games matter. Would you like the luxury of being able to put Morin in and see if he performs better?

I would not have a problem with that, if the Flyers do that. But I think you have to look long term. What you don't want to have happen is have him play well, play past the 9 game threshold, and then have his play falter to the point where he's out of the lineup, and possibly sent back to Juniors. You don't have the option of the AHL with Morin. And then you've wasted a year on his ELC.

Yep, there's absolutely the "rookie wall" type of risk with him. That's why I wouldn't keep him past 9 games unless he absolutely lights things up (offensively or defensively). But it would be nice to be able to at least get a few games out of him to help out if one of the defenders is faltering early.
