So is the pitch fork and noose still at the ready or we gonna let them collect dust for now?
- JoeRussomanno

He hasn't been terrible, but I do think he's had guys out playing him and looking more deserving of a longer look. It seems like he is a lock though so we'll see.

So much better chemistry between Therein and Giroux there. Imagine that interview with Coatsey. Ha.

It's pre-season. I'm not going to change my opinion on Rinaldo unless I see him actually carry this over to the regular season. If he does so, and proves me wrong, super.

I'd much rather be wrong and have him be a good player who benefits the Flyers than be right and have them have a guy who hurts them with stupidity and undisciplined play.

It's difficult to imagine a scenario where the lottery could be avoided were that to happen
- AllInForFlyers

Hell, they couldbe in the lottery if he stays healthy all year. All they have to do is miss the playoffs.

No question about that. Has to carry over to the regular season, and keep his emotions in check. He's been a hockey player first, and an agitator second. he needs to continue that. But he's also shown some things in the pre season that invalidate statements made about him, such as he has no skill.

I'm also going to root for him to do well, as long as he wears a Flyers jersey, because he's a Flyer. I admit, I don't like him or think he's much of a player, but I've been wrong before.

I don't like Berube, either. But if he wins a Cup for this team it won't make me less happy about it.

First chance to watch the boys this preseason. Looked good, but took their foot off for most of the third. Liked what I saw With Morin. I really hope Rinaldo keeps this type of play up.

I am really impressed with his preseason play, apart from knocking a guy into Mason last night.

I think it won't be pretty, but they're gonna make it -- maybe barely, but I think they still get in. Columbus has already Richarded around with Johansen enough where I'll be stunned if he starts well, and while they talk a lot of garbage now, let's see if they can score with him out and Jenner out.

A few teams will be better and that will make it tricky, and Timonen's loss will hurt, but I think whatever combination of fourth line they have will be a little better than last year's while the rest of the forwards should be as productive as last year, if not moreso.

Might not be pretty, but I think they do make it.

He's been good. Kept his cool and made some plays. Does it carry over when everyone is going full speed? We will see.

Yikes -- ease off the throttle there, Killer; just picturing a life without Giroux who, until tonight, hadn't played in the preseason and wasn't on the ice in the third

I wouldn't be surprised if they were 2nd in the division or if they pick in the top 10. Seriously. They have a load of talented pieces that can really carry them far. But they need a lot of things to go right, too.

I'd never count out a team with Giroux. But there's some questions that have to be answered.

Berube is a solid Coach. Did a nice job last year. Has a full year and a full training camp. Excited about the season. Flyers have a good team.

Yea I liked lavy too but I saw his system can wear on the players and fall apart. I've liked some things berube has preached like conditioning and attention to defensive play.

They should be a good team, which I've said all along. No one can account for injuries, and all we were talking about was if Giroux couldn't go.

I had an open mind about him last season. I don't like a few things about him. I don't think he's a great strategic guy, I disagree with his short leash for some/long leash for others handling of depth/second tier players, I don't think he did a good job in handling some players last season(most notably Lecavalier) and I really dislike that he seems to be willing to allow an opposing coach dictate who he'll dress-for instance his "if they dress and enforcer, I'll dress one too" comments from last week.

I think their turnaround last year had a lot more to do with Giroux getting going than anything Berube did. The stuff I don't like is correctable, or at least mostly correctable, but he's the coach. Again, I hope as long as he's the coach they win games and have a ton of success.
