Out...but I do wonder if Morin's will be delayed for a week or so
- AllInForFlyers

Quite possibly
I haven't been at all impressed with MDZ so far

But I'd still be shocked if Morin is with team for game #11

He's generally been very meh. Certainly nothing to be excited about.

Looked good on the PK to me.

Not me. My view of Rinaldo is that he's not shown a lot of improvement as a player over his three NHL seasons, and is still prone to taking too many bad penalties. He's undisciplined in terms of playing within a system and staying out of the box, and he's not skilled enough to overcome that, IMO.

He's been little more than a pest at every level. In juniors he was a pest. In the AHL he was a pest, in the NHL he's been a pest. Generally guys that become pests at the NHL level were still pretty good players in junior.

Ian Laperriere had two 100+ point seasons in junior, including a 140 point season. Sean Avery and Steve Ott were putting up PPG seasons as junior guys. Rinaldo was a low scoring junior player.

Every once in awhile he'll show a flash, but it's rarely anything more than that

With the strength in numbers we have of guys that look like they can contribute to the 3rd and 4th lines it really is a head scratcher.

I get it. The Flyers refuse to be outgooned. So if you play Buffalo and they're gonna dress Scott then you ice Rinaldo. Why McGinn didn't get a bigger shot last year, why Leier isn't getting more of a shot now... it's just baffling.

Umberger? Yes, he's looked solid on the PK. He's struggled at 5 on 5.

Me, too -- but man. This is my first extended look at him, and yeah, I can see why people talk about seeing Chris Pronger's game in him. There are things he does where he looks eerily similar.

Again, before somebody jumps all down my throat: I know he's not ready. But that's one interesting prospect the Flyers have

Rinaldo, just now. While pressuring the right point man while the penalty was able to expire. You and I weren't talking about Umberger.

Bellemare + Akeson developing some sparks... get them a LW that can actually play and things could get interesting.

Akeson might've needed tonight a little more than he would've liked

Actually, we were.

You said you think you were becoming disappointed with Umberger again and I said he's been very unnoticeable.

Then you said you've noticed him. That's why I thought you were talking Umberger.

Yes, Rinaldo has been pretty solid in pre-season. But just like not getting too worked up over the struggles of some players, I'm not going to get too excited that he's turned a corner over pre-season games.

I just saw you mention you were disappointed in Umberger. I replied, more or less, that I agreed.

Sorry for the confusion.

I like this line up. Swap Rinaldo in for Akeson when the other team decides to goon up their roster.

IIRC Hextall said for a kid to make this team he would have to clearly out play a veteran to do so

IMO Morin has clearly outplayed both AMac and MDZ

just sayin...

I have, on occasion, seen a Rinaldo who can pass and puck-handle pretty decently. If he can bring that game a bit more often, he'd be an acceptable winger, i think.

Going over your original statement, we're on the same page.

I've liked what I've seen from Rinaldo, who nobody should have a real expectation for but should at least throw the guy a bone if he's done something right or well.

Umberger I thought played really good in his first preseason game against Washington. Since then, he's been average at best. Five on five, he's lost me.

No apology needed, sir.

He has but he still needs more experience.

They aren't going to trade AMac this week over Morin and Ghost having a strong preseason.

When Morin does eventually come up I think it will be at the expense of Grossmann.

So has Ghost, and to be quite honest, Hagg
