Not much of a Flames blog, Colin....pfft.

For my Flames compatriots, im watching CLB and in particular Cody Goloubef. I havent seen him play but he seems like a decent prospect. Word is he may have to start on the big club until Murray is ready. He wdoul have to pass waivers to go back to their minor team. Could be a good pick up. Anyone have any more knowledge on this kid?

Never (frank)ing heard of him!!! Looks like a solid D-man though. Also he shoots right

I highly doubt the Jackets would put him on waivers though, so I'll probably just forget about him

On the bright side, the game is on TV tonight

I really don't know whether to predict if the the Cunucks will make the playoffs or not. It's a toss up with me with the Avs and Nucks IMO

I really would love to put the Oilers ahead of the Nucks but I just can't come to terms with it

He would like a few readers and some occasional intelligent conversations on his threads. Can't get either writing Flames blogs. I mean , most of them just have BigErn spewing the most idiotic nonsense....can you blame him?

We talk Flames non-stop in here. I don't think it's unreasonable to look at the rest of the conference every once in a while...

I agree, homie. How about we talk a little Oilers? We're part of the "rest of the conference".

I think this is the year that your team will actually compete. They won't make the playoffs, but I could see them as a .500 team.

No, some Canucks fan on the Hotstove thread said we are a lottery team. Whom do I trust? The opinion of a Flames fan or that of a Canucks fan?

Canucks fans don't count...

You guys improved your depth too much over the off season to not be more competitive.

Shut down defense and goaltending are still the question marks, but they're both potentially better this year as well.

The only downside is look at who they are compared to. There are very few teams in the west that will likely drop in the standings, and most teams got better.

Even if you want to think playoffs, look who they have to go through. They aren't going to beat the California teams, or Chicago, or St. Louis so that's already 5 of 8 teams likely making the playoffs ahead of them.

Then you throw in Dallas, who looks like a solid team this year (their defence is questionable but the offence speaks for itself.) And if minnesota figures out the goalie situation there's another two likely playoff teams. Leaving the last spot for everybody else to take from Colorado who is the team to beat.(although the last three are likely interchangeable).

Point is, while the oilers may have gotten better, so has most of the rest of the conference. Part of the issue with being in the West. If they were an eastern team, I'd say they could be doing a lot better. If….
