Could happen that all those guys make the team. From an Oulers perspective I would certainly hope they do.
- Jeropotato

Why? So we ruin their chances of full potential development like you guys did with your kids? Or because the more kids we have maybe gives you a team you can beat?

Do you really want me to go to the archive to when Seto signed and post all the guys on here talking about him bringing a great vet leadership presence...that would be good for the kids on the team....

Just admit you were all wrong....It's ok to be wrong sometimes...

- Iggysbff

I'm pretty sure we were all talking about the hypothetical situation where Seto could come in with a fire in his belly, looking to prove his worth as an NHLer, and listening to the coaching staff...

If that happened, it would indeed be a great example for the kids.

If it doesn't happen, we waive his ass and send him to Alaska.

Yea do it. I would love to see if you can find anything that i said that may have been about his leadership. I say it was a good value signing with no risk. I never believed this was for leadership purposes.

adding scoring...sure we touched on that. he helps possibly getting cammys goals. He fits a money hockey game plan

leadership...obviously he's an oiler fan since what he considers mentorship and leadership is a bit cloudy

Right....

Not like most of you had him top 6 in your rosters and Colin had him getting 20 goals with Monahan and getting traded at TDD for picks. Some mentioned leadership and that he would come in motivated due to being through 3 teams in the past few years.
Not to mention the comments on him being paired with Johnny hockey as a good fit.

I don't think Seto's been lazy at all during the pre-season. He's been working hard. He's just not that tremendous at decision-making. I think he had one play in his first pre-season game where he missed a chance and stared at the heavens, and that kind of set the tone for how people are being extremely critical of him.

Fortunately for me, I missed that moment and have only seen his play since then, and he's had a lot of hustle going in on the forecheck. Also not the worst hands in the world, either. But yes, thinking he was going to be able to play a top 6 role was likely optimistic indeed. He's going to be Stempniak-lite, with the emphasis on lite.

- yes if he plays he'd be top6. his style of play wouldn't fit in a bottom 6 role.
- 20g if the amount of ice time should be doable for him...if not, give the spot to a young guy. he could play with hurler then if you think money is a stretch.
- its a chance for him to be motivated. he's obviously not. As for leadership, you're reaching on that one. one of the goal leaders on the team maybe (not hard to do on a team that goals are spread amongst the team).
- JG would be a good fit for him to play with. Seto is a sniper, you need set up guys to feed him the puck. He would be misused if not partnered with a pass first oriented player.

Its your "leader" comment that you're making up. Flames have a lot of leaders, and grit players. they don't need seto to be either of those. you seem to be getting your rosters confused on the alberta teams

he looked pretty lazy out there in terms of 2way play compared to other players. But I probably expected him to want it more.

Its jones that needs to go before seto anyways

Point 1- what 4th hell does that have to do with leadership? And yes, returning to a 20 goal season would not be far-fetched considering his abilities and passed success.
Pont 2- maybe some people mentioned leadership but maybe youre mis-interpreting what was said. Quite likely.
Point 3- why wouldn't he be a good line mate for Gaudreau? And again, what the hell does that have to do with leadership?

Haha....I remember having this convo with him back when Gooch signed. He came on here with all of the same proclamations about 20 goal seasons yada yada yada. Nobody ever said that was what they expected to happen. Did some of us believe there was potential for that? Of course, some still do. But that doesn't mean anything less than that is a bust!

For the record I am not happy with the way he has played so far....but let's at least give him a few regular season games
